Medical Assistant
Responsibilities:
· Escorts patients to back office and prepares for examination or procedure.
· Assists physician with office procedures, minor surgeries, or examinations as required. Observes, records, and reports the conditions, signs, and symptoms of the patient which may be indicative of the patient's condition.
· Answers telephone, schedules appointments as necessary, and schedules diagnostic tests.
· Maintains a clean work area, cleans examination rooms, maintains equipment, and restocks supplies as needed.
· Communicates frequently with patients, physicians, and other clinic staff in a professional manner. May communicate with pharmacy regarding new and refill prescriptions. Assist physician with coordination of care and follow-up.
· Processes and finalizes all test requests.
· Files all medical record data in patient charts.
· Collects and processes specimens.
· Calls in physician orders.
· Provides patient education.
· Follows up with non-compliant patients and documents plan of action into patient's EMR.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
· Successful completion of a formal medical/clinical educational program or alternatively, has a strong knowledge of medical terminology and the ability to learn quickly.
· Clinical experience involving patient care in a healthcare environment.
· Ability to interpret and perform clinical, laboratory and diagnostic tests (such as vital signs, height, weight, temperature, etc.)
· Ability to multi-task and perform multiple critical tasks simultaneously.
· Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
· Ability to work independently, lead clinic, and complete tasks.
· Excellent listening, written, and verbal communication skills.
· Committed, highly energetic, self- motivated and highly organized.
· Excellent task management and prioritization skills.
