Schmidt Futures is Hiring a Program Delivery Specialist Near New York, NY

Our initiative brings together the efforts of various charitable and non-charitable entities to improve our potential impact by making diverse types of capital available to the efforts we support.

Reporting to the Program Delivery Manager or the Program Leader, the Program Delivery Specialist will support key activities relating to the delivery of specific programs in one of our portfolio areas.

This will include:

  • Support project management for at least one program.
  • Support grants, gifts, and investments management for at least one program.
  • Serve as program administrative support. 
  • Assist in the launch of new programs. 
Key Responsibilities:
  • The Program Delivery Specialist will focus on implementation of programs against agreed-upon deliverables and frameworks, working closely with the Program Leader for programs to which they are assigned.
Support project management for at least one program:
  • Support program leader and program team in executing on their program strategies.
  • Contribute to project management of programs, which may include launching and executing on competitions, managing large-group working groups / task forces of external experts, supporting the launch and management of multi-university research collaborations, and other methods for program execution being developed at Schmidt Futures. 
  • Lead continuous improvement effort to make programs more effective and efficient.
Support grants, gifts, and investments (GGI) management for at least one program:
  • Support process of program and grant management, including ensuring all stakeholders adhere to agreed timelines and milestones, coordinating relationships between grantees and the programs, submitting reports promptly, coordinating internal and external expert input, capturing discussion in progress reviews, tracking action items, and offering guidance to programs on process management and grants management.
  • Provide contract management and record keeping support. 
  • Execute plans to enhance programs such as through community building, interaction with advisors, etc. 
  • Coordinate with key leaders throughout Schmidt Futures who are responsible for talent network development and community activities.
  • Work closely with the Program Leader on any other GGI needs for the program. 
Serve as program administrative support:
  • Manage administrative activities for at least one program team. 
  • Act as the primary point of administrative contact with grantees or other key stakeholders associated with specific programs as assigned.
  • Maintain and update program data and contact information for internal databases.
  • Provide calendar management of internal and external meetings, conferences, and calls. 
  • Process expense reports, manage travel, and track all team spending. 
  • Assist with event and conference coordination, booking catering and restaurant reservations.
Assist in launch of new programs:
  • Support Program Leads in the process of developing and launching new programs. 
  • Assist in reviewing and conducting due diligence of potential grantees’ proposals (e.g., alignment with Schmidt Futures investment criteria, coordination of external expert reviewers, review of audited financial statements and Form 990s).
  • Once approved, oversee implementation of new programs, including tracking progress in identifying and approving grantees and other aspects of the programs.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Exceptional project management skills 
  • Experience managing gifts, grants, and investments processes. 
  • Demonstrated ability to manage grantees to agreed-upon outcomes.
  • Experience collaborating with and managing multiple diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience building and managing communities of people or talent networks.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Strong written communication and oral presentation skills. 
  • Experience supporting and developing process improvement and infrastructure
Requirements:
  • Have 2 years of experience in an operational, administrative, or program management type function.
  • Experience with project management required; experience with grants management preferred 
  • Have a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an accredited institution.
  • Be based at the Schmidt Futures offices in New York, Washington, D.C., or London and be able to travel within the U.S. and internationally regularly as needed, following company policy and permitting circumstances.

$90,000 - $110,000 a year

At Schmidt Futures we are committed to fair, transparent pay and we strive to provide competitive, market-informed compensation. The target base salary range for this role is $90,000 to $110,000. Compensation for the successful candidate will be informed by the candidate’s particular combination of knowledge, skills, competencies and experience.
