About the job

The Marketing team is looking for a Sr Communications Specialist who will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing promotional communication deliverables and activities supporting corporate and executive goals, employee and customer engagement, and the company's marketing programs for software products and services, as directed by the department head and group managers.

As a Sr Communications Specialist, you will:

  • Advise SAS leadership, divisions, and global staff (as relevant) on how to meet specific creative objectives aligned with marketing strategy via appropriate communication tools and channels.
  • Create internal and external communications, including emails, landing pages, video scripts, digital communications (video, audio, social tiles, ads, web content, etc.), event messaging, and other communication materials. Integrate new and traditional media approaches to stay current with communication trends and target audiences. Collaborate with designers to create visual communications such as infographics, photography, and videos.
  • Develops and maintains relationships and engagement with relevant constituents, including internal leaders and team members, including account managers, project managers, graphic designers, and UX designers. You will work with cross-functional marketing teams across departments when needed for integration to deliver and publish key company messages and engage in dialogue.
  • Leads creative campaigns messaging and projects and participates in brainstorming and conceptualization.
  • Plans, schedules, and coordinates specified communications and promotional projects (including) supporting activities such as corporate/product positioning, product launches, competitive analysis, external and internal communications, media, influencer, analyst, and community relations.
  • Develops long-range planning goals and metrics for meeting communications objectives. Tracks and reports on appropriate performance metrics for a variety of programs and channels.
  • Acts as a creative content mentor to other communications specialists on the team to offer writing expertise and editorial suggestions and feedback. Helps train new writers on SAS style and any other processes necessary for the job role as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • 8 years of experience writing copy in a corporate environment or an independent business-to-business, high-tech, or consumer-product advertising agency
  • Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Business, Advertising, Marketing, Communications or a related field. Coursework in feature and news writing, advertising, copywriting, or a related field is preferred.

  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
  • A solid grasp of current best practices for executing and delivering relevant communication vehicles. Strong organizational and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to communicate with creative marketing team members to drive collaboration, uncover inefficiencies, and find resolutions.
