A. POSITION PURPOSE
The Marketing Community Relations Manager (MarCom) provides marketing management for SCU
Presents Performing Arts Center at Santa Clara University.
Develop a strategic marketing plan to expand the arts reach of the SCU
Presents throughout the University and into Silicon Valley.
Develop, implement, and evaluate a comprehensive marketing strategy for SCU
Presents Performing Arts Center with a focus on, branding, new audience development and retention, and earned revenue generation, primarily through ticket sales of concerts, performances, programs, activities, classes, events, and exhibits. This includes planning and executing marketing campaigns, recommending appropriate sales and marketing channels, overseeing and implementing creative components, including graphic design, and guiding the research and analysis of market data.
B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Functional Area
Marketing
Develop with the Director and implement a marketing plan for season subscription campaigns, membership programs, single ticket sales, and new audience development.
Develop and maintain customer relationship management (CRM) tools to support marketing, sales, and customer service. Utilize CRM to organize, record, and enable action with customer data to help track and advance customers along every stage of the buying journey.
Recommend initiatives and implement changes to improve quality and services.
Maximize productivity through the use of appropriate tools; plan training and performance initiatives.
Prepare quarterly sales and budget reports; inform supervisor of project status; and deviation from goals. Ensure completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of all operational functions.
Prepare and submit reports as requested and required.
Develop and implement guidelines to support the functions of the performing arts academic departments.
Brand Management and Marketing
Collaborate with the Director on the continued strategic development of the brand by ensuring a consistent and coherent approach across all media.
Work with a creative team of graphic artists and photographers, to develop and implement marketing collateral materials.
Develop and implement the production of marketing materials in conjunction with internal stakeholders, partners, and outside vendors.
Develop, manage, and implement strategies and logistics for direct mail, advertising, email campaigns, video, and social media campaigns.
Write and edit copy for marketing collateral, advertising, newsletter, social media, video, and website.
Audience Development and Retention
Develop a strategy to generate new and diverse audiences from our campus and local community. Build a community of loyal and dedicated patrons for the arts at SCU.
Direct the growth in new audience development by targeting the appropriate customer base through an array of marketing techniques. This includes planning, and executing marketing campaigns, recommending appropriate sales and marketing channels, overseeing and implementing creative components, including graphic design, and guiding the research and analysis of market data.
Direct and work to increase visibility, and attendance and generate revenue by developing and implementing strategic communications and diverse marketing techniques and practices to targeted audiences.
Develop formal customer relations strategy and implement a plan for the retention of patrons.
Earned Revenue Generation
Develop a comprehensive marketing strategy for long and short-term earned revenue generation.
Develop specific marketing plans for both seasonal and individual productions in order to maximize earned revenue.
Collaborate, develop and secure community-based partnerships with media and vendors, for the development of advertising, and promotions.
Administration and Management
Manage marketing project budgets and schedules.
Generate earned sales revenue to meet or exceed projections.
Manage the marketing Pro and SCU student staff.
Utilize excellent customer service skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with university employees and students, and all members of the general public.
Actively work with the Patron's Services Manager to develop and implement in-house pro-active marketing plans to address all Performing Art Center patrons.
Generate quarterly marketing plans, box office sales reports and budget reports.
Web Strategy, Digital Media and Management
Maintain a dynamic, interactive SCU
Presents Performing Arts Center website.
Oversee marketing database, archives and departmental retrieval systems.
Recommend data and technology-driven marketing and CRM strategies.
Analyze and report on campaigns, evaluating response rates and ROI to make recommendations of how to maximize net revenue.
Oversee SCU
Presents social media campaign
Publications
Work with a creative team of graphic artists and photographers, to develop and implement marketing collateral materials.
Develop and maintain an e-marketing campaign, including email marketing, and social media and develop, maintain, and regularly update the SCU
Presents website.
2. Functional Area
Public/ Media Relations
Develop and implement public and media relation campaigns to increase visibility of the arts. Work with the Office of Marketing Communication.
Develop marketing strategies to increase media coverage including the generation of media events, news releases, and public service announcements.
Oversee the design and implementation of SCU
Presents Website.
3. Other duties as assigned.

D. GENERAL MARKETING MANAGEMENT GUIDELINES
Develop and implement marketing and sales strategies to support the functions of the unit.
Recommend marketing initiatives and develop and direct policies and procedures to improve patron experiences.
Maintain a dialogue with customers and solicits feedback for improved services.
Maximize the utilization of marketing and sales tools to enhance audience growth.
Research and develop resources that create timely and efficient workflow.
Prepare progress reports; informs supervisor of project status; and deviation from goals. Ensure completeness, accuracy and timeliness of all operational functions.
Prepare and submit marketing and sales reports as requested and required.
E. QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge
Primarily Marcom, with knowledge of Public Relations, Graphic Design, Social Media, and Web Site Management
Skills
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and creative problem-solving skills
Professional, service-oriented demeanor.
Exceptional written and verbal communications skills; experience writing copy for print, online, and broadcast channels.
Successful development and implementation of direct marketing campaigns are required.
CRM management experience.
Experienced at media buying.
Working knowledge of print production, and graphic design with Adobe Creative Suite.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite; some HTML, and Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
Strong organizational skills and ability to juggle multiple projects successfully.
Abilities
Ability to think strategically, prioritize effectively, exceed revenue goals, meet deadlines, accurately process information, and budget efficiently.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
Must work well in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
Appreciation for and understanding of the principles of a Jesuit education.
Education
Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Marketing, Communications, Arts Administration or related field.
Years of Experience
Minimum 5-6 years of marketing experience preferred, preferably in a performing arts setting.
