Annual A. POSITION PURPOSE
The Director of Student Services develops and implements short and long range goals, policies, procedure, relating to supporting the current online student body. This position is responsible for all aspects of student life and academic support for any student enrolled in a program supported by SCU Online. They are responsible for providing exceptional customer service and for creating an engaging experience for the online student, with an overarching goal of student retention and success.
This position, in collaboration with the graduate schools, will manage student onboarding, engagement events, and student success initiatives. This individual will build effective relationships both internal and external to the University; and enhance the online learner experience.
B. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Managerial oversight of student life, academic support, and records management
Establish and administer procedures relating to all phases of registration, student enrollment, academic deadlines, certification, and program completion.
Ensure online student registration, enrollment, program completion follows university guidelines.
Create and maintain reporting procedures to track student progress, enrollment analysis, etc.
Collaborate with other University administrators and deans of various schools
Work with various assistant deans and upper administration of each college to ensure student service/success meets college vision and culture.
Establish and maintain communication and collaboration with graduate school student service representatives.
Create and maintain a positive student life experience that is aligned with Santa Clara University's mission and values.
Develop, manage, and maintain a comprehensive, and high quality level of services and student life events and experiences.
Build out robust residency programs, create communications for online students (i.e. online student newsletters), launch innovative programming to create SCU culture within online cohorts.
Act as a first point of contact for online students to provide support and campus resources.
Monitor student activity, enhancing where possible; intervening where necessary.
Participate in student orientation, ensuring students begin their program with a complete understanding of program expectations, details on online modality, etc.
Develop long-term collaborative partnerships with faculty and staff to meet student needs
Lead student retention efforts
Facilitate communication between program administrators and faculty to improve student retention and success
Identify points of concern throughout student programming, creating innovative solutions.
Professional Development
Stay current in the field of student support through conferences, workshops, networking, and other resources
Network and learn best practices of online student support
Other duties as assigned

E. QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience
Bachelors' degree required
5-6 years of related experience required
Advanced degree preferred, in addition to any necessary credentials.
