Sandia National Laboratories is Hiring an Intern - Industrial Hygiene - Technical Graduate Summer with Security Clearance - Now Hiring Near Albuquerque, NM

What Your Job Will Be Like The student intern will perform entry-level industrial hygiene work under the direction of senior Industrial Hygienists within the Department to support Sandia's Smart Labs initiative and laboratory ventilation programs. The Smart Labs initiative is a national program promoted by the U.S. Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy to enable safe and efficient world-class science through the design and operation of high-performance labs and critical workspaces. A major component of this program focuses on optimizing operation of airflow systems. On any given day, typical project duties may include: * Support new building construction, lab renovation, or lab ventilation system design and installation activities through the development of laboratory ventilation management program elements. * Assist in the development of updated Smart Labs design guidelines to evaluate and communicate system design specifications to meet safety requirements and mission needs. * Assist senior staff in performing technically sound laboratory ventilation risk assessments, which include elements such as ventilation effectiveness factor testing, exposure control device performance testing, and quality documentation of the assessments. NNSA Requirements for MedPEDs If you have a Medical Portable Electronic Device (MedPED), such as a pacemaker, defibrillator, drug-releasing pump, hearing aids, or diagnostic equipment and other equipment for measuring, monitoring, and recording body functions such as heartbeat and brain waves, if employed by Sandia National Laboratories you may be required to comply with NNSA security requirements for MedPEDs. If you have a MedPED and you are selected for an on-site interview at Sandia National Laboratories, there may be additional steps necessary to ensure compliance with NNSA security requirements prior to the interview date. Qualifications We Require You bring the confidence and skills to be eligible for the job by meeting these minimum requirements: * Earned bachelor's degree * Currently attending and enrolled full time in the spring term immediately preceding the internship (or scheduled to graduate in the spring) in an accredited related graduate program * Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0 * Ability to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer * U.S. citizenship Note: If you have not yet started your graduate program, please apply to an undergraduate intern position. Qualifications We Desire * Desire to work in a team setting and strong teamwork values * Strong customer service * Good verbal and written communication skills * Ability to work effectively with others under minimal supervision * Ability to carry equipment and work outdoors in all weather conditions * Experience in performing field IH functions, especially monitoring and sampling for a wide variety of physical and chemical agents * Ability to perform audits, hazard analysis, and self-assessments * A working knowledge of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations * Previous experience with manufacturing, R&D/process development, construction or industrial maintenance activities.
