About the Role:

The San Francisco Giants are looking for a seasoned benefits manager to help lead and execute our diverse and complex benefit offerings. The Benefits Manager develops, implements, maintains and administers health, welfare, wellness and retirement benefits and programs for the San Francisco Giants. The Benefits Manager will oversee the day to day administration of all benefit related matters, including employee inquires, elections, transactions, and program policies and procedures. Ensures programs comply with legal and regulatory requirements, and are cost effective. This position reports to and partners closely with the Director, Benefits & Wellness to determine strategic design and program options, including recommendations for the annual benefits renewal process and budget. Benefit programs at the San Francisco Giants include, but are not limited to, medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, absence management, retirement programs, commuter benefits, flexible spending, COBRA, wellness, mental health, employee assistance, discounts & perks and other additional benefits.

• Manages the efficient and effective implementation, communication, and administration of health, wellness, absence management and retirement programs
• Partner with LOA TPA to manage leave of absence process end-to-end for all staff, from initial request through their return-to-work.
• Manage the annual open enrollment period - including communications, systems implementation, testing, launch and close; and post-enrollment activities
• Lead benefit orientations, support onboarding and offboarding benefit communications and processes.
• Subject matter expert on employee benefits: responds to employee inquires; manages qualifying work/life events; and provides claims assistance.
• Deliver high level customer service to employees, colleagues and external partners by providing timely and accurate responses to requests and inquires.
• Identify trends in employee questions and feedback; proactively look for opportunities to improve the employee experience.
• Evaluate and modify existing benefits programs, policies, processes and procedures to maintain best in class benefit offerings and ensure accuracy in benefits delivery, strong plan performance, and cost containment.
• Audit, reconcile and pay monthly insurance statements and premiums.
• Manage required reporting and ensure compliance of city and federal mandates (ex. ACA, SF HCSO).
• Support Wellness Program initiatives and logistics
• Partner with consultants, vendors, brokers and carriers to optimize benefit plans and programs.
• Ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws, including required notice distribution, non-discrimination testing, internal reviews of benefits plans & deductions

• Partner with HR Systems Manager to ensure set up and timely delivery of benefits and integrations

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 5-7 years in Human Resources with at least 5 years focusing on employee benefits
• Strong knowledge of employee benefits programs and the relevant laws and regulations that govern them, including medical, dental, vision, life, short and long term disability, COBRA, ERISA, flexible spending accounts and retiree benefits. Experience with international benefits a plus.
• Ability to interpret the various health or disability plans and associated documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to communicate complex benefit concepts in an understanding and empathetic manner.
• Ability to handle confidential matters and information with discretion and diplomacy.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis in Excel.
• Prioritize daily issues, tasks and projects in a faced-paced environment.
• Comfortable working independently; self-starter with a strong work ethic and sense of urgency.
• Experience with Workday preferred.
• Bi-lingual (Spanish) a plus.
