San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living:

Founded in 1871 as the Hebrew Home for Aged and Disabled and previously referred to as the “Jewish Home”, the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (SFCJL) has a long and storied history of providing high-quality care to the community’s most vulnerable older adults. Guided by the values and principles of the Jewish tradition, our mission is to enrich the lives of older adults from all faiths and backgrounds.

Situated in the city’s Excelsior neighborhood on a state-of-the-art, nine-acre campus, SFCJL includes the 191-unit Frank Residences assisted living and memory care (open since 2020), and the 375-bed Jewish Home and Rehabilitation Center (JHRC), which has the distinction of being the largest, private, nonprofit distinct-part skilled nursing facility in the state of California. Additionally, our campus includes a short-term acute psychiatric unit, unique for its specialization in mental healthcare for older adults (200 served annually). All combined, SFCJL serves a vibrant and diverse population of more than 2,500 patients and residents annually.

The need for our services is only expected to increase. According to US Census Bureau statistics, the American population 65 and older is expected to swell from 56 million in 2020 to 81 million by 2040. With more than 150 years of excellence propelling us forward, now is an exciting moment to join our leadership team and become a part of our continued growth during a pivotal time for senior care. SFCJL is well positioned to embark upon a new strategic plan to support the next century of joyful, dignified aging.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the SFCJL President and Chief Executive Officer, the Director of Marketing (DOM) is a strategic, innovative, and collaborative leader who will be responsible for developing, communicating, executing, and sustaining the organization's marketing programs. In keeping with the mission, vision and values of the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living and working closely with executive leadership in each area, the DOM plays a crucial role in shaping and implementing coordinated and cohesive marketing strategies to enhance the overall growth and brand of SFCJL as a premiere skilled nursing facility, assisted living and memory care residence.

The DOM will provide leadership and oversight for marketing and communications strategies across our campus and to all target audiences, in support of JHRC, Frank Residences, Office of Advancement and any new service lines resulting from our developing strategic plan. The DOM will have the opportunity to participate in and contribute to the campus’s upcoming strategic planning process. The DOM engages in outreach and relationship development with referral sources and leads public relations and communications efforts.

The ideal candidate will have broad experience and expertise in all aspects of marketing, digital media, website design and communications. They will have an innovative, creative, collaborative approach and work will be driven by data and performance metrics.

Direct Reports and Contract Services:

  • 1 FTE with potential to grow and develop a team
  • Manages current contract services for marketing, digital marketing, website management and communications.
  • Conducts assessment of current contract services and develops new relationships based on assessment.

Essential Functions:

  • Provide vision and leadership for all aspects of marketing for the JHRC and Frank Residences including brand management, digital marketing, print and collateral communications and public relations.
  • Develop and implement a strategic marketing plan aligned with the organization's goals to achieve sustainable census and to grow philanthropic revenue.
    • In collaboration with the Frank Residences’ Director of Sales and Executive Director, work in the short term will be focused on achieving the Frank Residences’ census goals.
  • Use data-driven insights, including relevant market research, to inform marketing strategies and tactics for this plan.
  • Regularly monitor and report on key performance indicators.

· Direct efforts to build and maintain a lasting brand identity and serve as the organization's brand ambassador, helping to unify external messaging and materials.

· Respond to departmental requests for marketing materials/needs.

· Develop and oversee digital marketing strategies that optimize the organization's visibility.

  • Conduct needs analysis, develop plan and implement upgrade of SFCJL’s websites.
  • Direct the development and maintenance of all internal and external communication vehicles, including organizational publications, collateral, and print advertising.
  • Develop and implement public relations strategies to enhance the organization's reputation, including press releases, media relations, and crisis management.
  • Develop a marketing and communication budget that ensures efficient allocation of resources to achieve maximum return on investment, ROI.
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree, MBA preferred.
  • Five years progressive experience in healthcare marketing, preferably in a leadership role such as Director of Marketing.
  • A successful track record in developing and implementing strategic marketing plans in the healthcare industry.
  • Strong understanding of marketing principles, trends, and technologies.
  • Detail oriented with excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to utilize the latest technologies for communication, data gathering and reporting.
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong cultural competency and/or previous experience marketing for a values-driven organization
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships with diverse stakeholders, both internal and external.

Pay range $160K - 175K DOE
