As a place that welcomes everyone, working at J Camp at the Stroum Jewish Community Center (SJCC) is an outstanding way to contribute, grow and earn money all summer long!

The Israeli Culture Specialist plans and executes Israel-themed activities in 45-minute increments for campers of varying ages at J Camp and works on infusing Israeli and Jewish culture throughout camp. This job requires some prep time leading up to camp and works closely with the Assistant Camp Director.

Requirements

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education/Experience:

• Experience working with children preferred.
• A connection to Israel and basic knowledge of it's culture.
• Experience with ropes courses, or willingness to become rope course certified.
• Current CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification for adults/children/infants, or willing to take courses before the start of camp (training will be offered through the J).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse populations.
• Knowledge of relevant health and safety practices.
• Ability to coach and empower campers, counselors in training, and fellow staff members. 
• Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with campers, team members, and supervisors.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to work effectively independently and in a team setting.
• Ability to exercise good judgment.

Additional Employment Requirements:

• Satisfactorily pass a criminal background check.
• Must be at least 16 years of age.

Compensation and Benefits Include: 

• Full Family SJCC Membership which includes gym, basketball court and pool. (Employees who work 20 hours)

• Washington Paid Sick Leave (Part-time, on call, seasonal employees)
• Washington State Pay Range: $19.00/hour to $ 22.00/hour
• Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including but not limited to, skills, relevant experience, and specific work location.
