We operate the largest residential program for formerly homeless women and children in the Sacramento region providing services 24 hours/day, 365 days/year, offering shelter, meals, childcare, and comprehensive support services, including Behavioral Health Services, Hands-on Employment Training, Career Education, and Family Services.

Position Overview


TITLE Mental Health Clinician

SALARY $28.00-$33.00/ hour

CLASSIFICATION Full-Time, Non-Exempt

LOCATION On Site Only – Jackson Rd. Sacramento, CA

SCHEDULE Based on client needs.

About the Position…

The Mental Health Clinician will provide essential mental health services to homeless women and children in need of reunification. This position requires a client-driven approach, focusing on the evidenced-based Family Centered Treatment (FCT) model to support families in reunification. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of homeless women and children, supporting them in their journey towards family reunification and improved mental health.

You’ll be responsible for…

  • Implement evidence-based mental health interventions for homeless women and children in need of reunification. Interventions can be delivered at transitional home, with extended family and community.
  • Provide individual and group therapy sessions to address trauma, mental health issues, and family dynamics.
  • Collaborate with other team members to develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each family's needs.
  • Conduct assessments, screenings, and evaluations to identify mental health concerns and support reunification goals.
  • Engage with community resources and stakeholders to enhance support networks for families in the program.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of client progress and treatment outcomes.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, training sessions, and professional development activities to enhance clinical skills and knowledge.

You must have...

  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Early childhood development and appropriate practices; basic child psychology; appropriate health and safety codes.
  • Reporting procedures for suspected child abuse; laws and regulations covering such abuse.
  • Skills establishing and maintaining effective communications with adults and children.
  • Standard office software.
  • Bachelor’s degree in psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field.
  • Registered with the BBS as an ASW, AMFT, APCC or LCSW, LMFT or LPCC.
  • Experience working in child welfare or family services settings.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practices in mental health treatment, trauma-informed care, and family therapy.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with diverse populations and community partners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to cultural competence, equity, and advocacy for marginalized populations.
  • A valid CA driver’s license and auto insurance are required.
  • Pre-employment TB clearance, background and fingerprint check, and First Aid/CPR certification.
  • Requires a full range of physical mobility, such as bending, stooping, lifting, turning, carrying objects, and grasping, as well as the ability to see and hear.
