Position Summary:
The Youth Advocate ensures that the voice of youth and clients are brought forth and heard by the agency at all times. This position will ensure that Children’s Receiving Home of Sacramento (CRH) youth participate in Resident Council, that responses are made to their requests, that a series of youth focus groups are held on campus on issues important to youth, that youth have a voice in the further design of this program, and that the voice of youth is brought to the Administrative staff for action on youth’s own terms. The Youth Advocate also provides culturally relevant outreach, engagement, and support services to transition-aged youth and those who work/live with them, designed to promote support services. They also provide advocacy to program participants and coordination with the community and collaborative partners. The Youth Advocate is an individual with experience as a “system” youth, or a family member of a “system” youth, and must be culturally competent in the sub-cultures of LGBTQ youth, homeless youth, and/or foster youth. They will provide supportive services in the community as well as at the CRH offices. They will also participate in community outreach and education activities and co-facilitate psycho-educational, social, and other groups as needs are identified.

Language Ability:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret documents such as client safety/treatment plans, assessment materials and procedure manuals. Ability to write professional/clinical reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
