Building Maintenance Worker

Pay Range: $21.01-$24.70 hourly

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Under general supervision of the Properties Supervisor, this position will provide technical support for the maintenance of Authority owned and leased facilities (including 18 group homes and 12 apartments). Duties include ability to make miscellaneous repairs to physical building structures and building equipment, ability to use hand and power tools, ability to maintain records of materials and physical plant maintenance and safety checks, of facilities and equipment, and provide input and recommendations concerning commercial and residential workplace safety and compliance with Medicaid HCBS, MDHHS licensing, local building/tenant ordinances, and OSHA requirements. This position will provide necessary information to consumer case managers and supports coordinators on specific consumer movements and placements. This position will be knowledgeable about and actively support culturally competent recovery-based practices; person centered planning as a shared decision-making process with the individual, who defines his/her life goals and is assisted in developing a unique path toward those goals; and a trauma informed culture of safety to aid consumer in the recovery process.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

Minimum of associates degree or trade school certificate.

Valid Michigan Driver’s license. Must have excellent driving record.

Experience:

At least two years experience working in building maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of and ability to perform building maintenance tasks.

Skilled in use of hand and power tools.

Ability to use tact and diplomacy and relate to people from all social, economic, and cultural backgrounds.

Excellent communication skills and the ability to work with other people.

Basic knowledge of and ability to use desktop computer.

Must be dependable and reliable in order to work without close supervision.
