12 month full time position
This is an on campus/in person position, reporting to the Director of the Career and Self-Discovery Center

This position will support Russell Sage College undergraduate and graduate students, as well as alumni, in all phases of their career development through individualized appointments, group presentations, and strategic collaborations.
This position will also work with the Director to market and lead major initiatives in the office focused on career readiness and experiential learning.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Exercise sound judgment, independent decision making, extreme discretion, and maintain confidentiality in matters with the institution's best interest at the forefront
  • Provide full range of career advisement to students on the Troy and Albany campuses and alumni through appointments, walk-ins, and virtual services in various phases of the career development process including self-assessment, occupational exploration, decision making and goal setting, internship/job/graduate school search and preparation, resume and cover letter review, mock interviews, and self-marketing
  • Serve as liaison to faculty, staff, and student organizations for the Career Center, developing and presenting career-related programming for target populations including but not limited to veterans, student athletes, first year students, BIPOC communities, CSTEP/ Higher Education Opportunity Program, and first generation college students on a variety of career-related topics including resume/cover letter writing, effective job searching, professional networking, personality types and careers, career readiness, and interviewing
  • Recruit, train and supervise the work of Career Center Graduate Assistants
  • Administer and interpret assessment tools such as Focus2, both individually and in group settings
  • Promote office use and events through collaboration across campus and creation of marketing materials
  • Initiate, develop, and maintain relationships with employers and alumni to engage them in the Sage Community, as needed
  • Work with the Director in the development and implementation of new Career Center initiatives
  • Participate in committees, helping with the coordination of campus-wide initiatives and programs, including Orientation, Admission events, and Graduation
  • Assist in the development and implementation of the departmental goals and assessment plan
  • Serve as a member of the Student Success team and engage in relevant retention efforts, programming, and events affiliated with Student Success
  • Work with the Director to collect, organize, and interpret Graduate Employment Outcomes data, creating an annual report to be shared with Campus Leadership
  • Manage the streamlining of the undergraduate student internship experience application/evaluation process
  • Other duties as assigned

The estimated salary is $55,341 per year for 40 hours per week for 52 weeks.


Job Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required in Psychology, Sociology, Education, Business Administration, Human Resources or related fields required, Master's preferred.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of professional experience, preferably in an Higher Education environment
  • Exceptional presentation skills
  • Knowledge of career counseling theories, and career decision-making and job-search processes
  • Self-directed and resourceful with strong interpersonal skills and relationship-building abilities
  • Be an advocate for the Career Center, promoting its value and contributions to the RSC community
  • Experience planning small and large scale events

Position requires occasional evening and weekend responsibilities as well as a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the department across two campuses. The AD will primarily work at the Albany Campus with the expectation to travel to Troy as needed.
