This is a full-time, 12-month position reporting to the Dean of Students, Russell Sage College - Troy. The Director is responsible for leading, developing, implementing and assessing comprehensive educational and social programs at Russell Sage College. The Director is charged with creating an all-inclusive student experience consistent with the Russell Sage College mission. The position requires regularly scheduled evening and weekend hours to effectively serve student needs. The Director supervises the Assistant Director of Student Activities.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise the Assistant Director of Student Activities providing regular support, guidance, oversight and evaluation.
  • Collaborate with Student Life administrators, faculty, and wider campus community to provide an inclusive, equitable, purposeful and diverse co-curricular experience connecting classroom learning to experiences
  • Ensure that RSC programs and events recognize the diversity of our student body, are inclusive and welcoming to all students
  • Ensure weekly/weekend programming and entertainment that keep students engaged on campus in collaboration with RSC Student Government, Student Centers and other campus wide partners
  • Disseminate information to students about upcoming events and activities on a regular basis and through various outlets
  • Design and implement Sage Votes, RSC's committee for voter registration, election information and political awareness
  • Plan and coordinate fall Family Weekend events and activities
  • Assist with the implementation of Commencement weekend activities and events
  • Support student engagement efforts related to the welcoming of new students through orientation and welcome week programs and initiatives.
  • Serve as the advisor to student clubs and organizations, as needed
  • Design, coordinate and oversee student leadership program and Club Advisor/Leader Training
  • Recruit and support faculty/staff class advisors and assess their effectiveness
  • Serve as the primary advisor to all Student Government Association Student Activities Leadership positions (COSE, FCC, Traditions Chair, ACE Chairs) and Activities Boards
  • Maintain social media presence for Student Activities
  • Oversee the operation, staffing, budgeting, and programming of the McClellan Student Center and support the operation of Freddie's Student Lounge
  • Prepare, implement and manage department budgets for student activities and student centers
  • Develop and implement Commuter support programs and activities
  • Provide guidance and support for clubs and organizations, particularly in the areas of budget and event planning
  • Develop and implement outcomes assessment measures for the office of student activities
  • Other responsibilities assigned by the Dean of Students on the Troy campus

The estimated salary is $58,548 per year for 40 hours per week for 52 weeks.


Job Requirements:

Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree with two years relevant experience required; Master's Degree, prior work in higher education and supervisory experience is preferred. Flexibility with work hours and student-centered perspective as well as a proven ability to work with diverse constituents in a collaborative way.
