Vice President Business Development

This position is primarily remote but we would prefer to have someone who lives in the Denver, CO area within commutable distance to our corporate office and DIA.

Rural Physicians Group (RPG) is the premier physician group serving rural hospitals. We provide highly trained and seasoned hospitalist and surgicalist professionals to provide high-quality, financially-sustainable care to rural communities currently across 22 states and growing to all 50 states. We match our Physicians to the hospital based upon “the best fit” for their specific needs and environment. RPG works collaboratively with the medical and clinical staff to enhance the continuum of care.

RPG is a profitable organization with a proven track record of execution and performance with an active sales funnel that is ready to accelerate to the next level. Given this critical stage of the organization we are on the search for a Vice President of Business Development that has a passion for success and is ready to assist with the development of our “go-to-market” strategy, refine our sales practice and implement processes that will achieve the desired revenue growth. This individual needs to be result and detail-oriented and capable of building the sales team from the ground up by leveraging existing best practices and team members. Someone who loves the altruistic nature of our services, and loves to build and lead others would do well here at RPG. Our new Vice President of Business Development will enjoy developing an emerging space in health care and leading a successful sales team.

Responsibilities:

  • Grow profitable, topline revenue to meet budgeted growth targets
  • Continually improve, develop and manage a high-performance sales team collectively and individually including Account Executives and Marketing Project Manager
  • Be a passionate RPG evangelist to the rural healthcare community and organizations
  • Lead and adapt RPG sales motion, go to market and sales execution processes and expand business to meet growth targets and customer needs
  • Create and cultivate senior level relationships across healthcare systems through their own personal network, state/regional association meetings, local consulting organizations, and other methods.
  • Develop and maintain an expert level of knowledge regarding all products, services, infrastructure, and operations of the Company to achieve optimal insight into the Company’s product development, capabilities, support, and functionality requirements
  • Drive & close selling opportunities in strategic clients
  • Aggressively pursue and close new business
  • Develop client relationships and ensure the Company’s value is both achieved and conveyed properly
  • Forecasting sales activity and revenue
  • Develop a predictable and time defined sales process from lead generation through new service onboarding
  • Oversee the transition of a new client from the sales team to the onboarding team to ensure a successful start-up and that we deliver on all our promises.
  • Participate as a member of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) ensuring that the ELT is kept abreast of potential clients and progress towards signed contracts.

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field required. Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 8 years healthcare sales experience as an individual contributor in a business development role; at least 10 years of selling in the healthcare space and sales leadership
  • Significant sales experience selling and marketing high-dollar transactions, (high six figure), to hospitals and healthcare customers
  • Rural experience / orientation
  • Has successfully built an account-based, metric-driven sales function
  • Executive presence for messaging to C-level contacts
  • Experience selling into the business to business (B2B) market in the healthcare market
  • Proven track record of growth and meeting/exceeding monthly, quarterly and annual revenue goals
  • Ability to accurately forecast monthly, quarterly and annual account opportunity and revenue streams
  • Strong and demonstrated written, verbal, phone and presentation skills
  • Competency for organizational design and compensation
  • Can orchestrate complex sales with long sale cycles by coordinating multiple stakeholders to maintain momentum and build consensus to close
  • Analytically-oriented to understand and evolve our Ideal Customer Profile
  • Can explain key metrics and indicators to explain what is working and what is not
  • Root cause analysis to uncover underlying obstacles to the sales process
  • Can develop a consistent, predictable sales pipeline and metric-driven forecasts based on targeted activities to drive objectives
  • Able to work in an entrepreneurial environment with limited marketing resources
  • Able to learn quickly including new system applications
  • Hungry, ambitious, need to succeed and committed to do whatever needed to
  • Has processes and routines to train and manage a remote sales team
  • Willing to travel extensively
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and web-based tools) required

Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience.

Additional Compensation/Benefits: In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for commissions. Benefits offered include health, dental and vision insurance, life and AD&D insurance, paid time off (vacation, holidays, sick & bereavement), 401k, and cell phone allowance.
