Job Description

This position may require evening and/or weekend hours, as well as in-state travel, to attend in- person meetings and community/outreach events.

NOTE: MILEAGE IS NOT REIMBURSED.

Responsibilities:

• Supports the execution of multiple, simultaneous projects and initiatives
• Supports with project designs, timelines, workplans, implementation, reporting, and evaluation
• Supports the development, writing, and preparation of grant applications and budgets
• Supports coordination of the preparation and delivery of educational presentations and meetings
• Attend statewide outreach events to provide educational materials to community members
• Maintains an awareness of workplans, timelines, and deadlines, and provides support to ensure timely progress and deliverables
• Collaborate with contract manager to ensure timely spend down of grant funds.
• Collaborate with a variety of youth suicide prevention stakeholders to implement the RI Youth Suicide Prevention Initiative, ensuring that all voices and ideas are equally heard and considered while also ensuring effective use of resources.
• Collaborate on local and national evaluation activities conducted by RI Youth Suicide Prevention Initiative Epidemiologist for activities related to the Youth Suicide Prevention Project which may include transcription of patient information from Kids’ Link intake forms to reporting forms required by SAMHSA.
• Participate in the following state-wide committees or meetings: Governor’s Council on Behavioral Health Prevention Advisory Committee; Student Health Advisory Committee; RIDOH Adolescent Health Workgroup
• Manage partnerships with non-grant funded community mental health organizations in support of grant goals and outcomes.
• Convene RI Higher Education Suicide Prevention Advisory Group, consisting of staff from all RI colleges and universities working on suicide prevention initiatives, twice annually.
• Understand and adhere to SAMHSA guidelines when working with partners to implement interventions, promote effective coordination, collaboration, communication, and synergy across other youth behavioral health strategic programs.
• Attend monthly SAMHSA project officer calls and submit quarterly data reports, as specified in the grant requirements.
• Collaborate with RIDOH’s Center for Public Health Communications to implement “The Us in Campus,” a multi-campus mental health social media awareness campaign
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor

Education and Experience

• Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, public health, public administration, sociology, education, or other health-related field, and/or three years of suicide prevention experience strongly preferred; bachelor’s degree and a minimum of two years directly relevant experience required.
• Experience in the use of video/web conferencing through Teams, preferred.
• Experience working in Microsoft Teams and SharePoint, preferred.
