Position Overview

Primary Purpose
The Programming Coordinator is a vital member of campus life and contributes to the development of a vibrant co-curricular life with a particular focus on evening and weekend programming.
Essential Duties
Contribution to major campus events including Thank RIC it’s Friday series, Family Weekends, WinterFest, Spring Fling, Move In Weekend, Welcome Week Series, Welcome Back Series, RIC End, Late Night Breakfasts, Thanksgiving Community Dinner, Student Involvement Fairs, Student Leadership Awards.
o Lead and primary contact for Late Night Breakfasts, Thanksgiving Community Dinner, Winter Wonderland Community Dinner, RIC Community Block Party and Positively RIC! o Books all contracts for events, after convening with appropriate parties.
o Responsible for process and communication around set up and break down of events. Drafts run of show and walks team through it.
o Designs fliers and promotion for events, works with SA Marketing on this. o Maintains social media presence for events, as well as manages text platform.
o Submits purchasing requests for all events to Student Life admin assistant, after convening with appropriate parties.
Exercises judgment and discretion in providing mentorship and partnership to stipended organizations, including Student Community Government Executive Committee, RIC Programming Board, Residential Student Association, and Media Center organizations (Anchor Newspaper, Anchor TV, WXIN).
o Support organizations with program development and implementation. o Serve as point of contact for supporting to book space, process contracts, and work with service providers.
o Meet on a regular basis with organizations to provide guidance and problem solve upcoming events. o Manage volunteers and student employees to support set up and break down of events.
o Work with stipended orgs on major events that position is responsible for (Late Night Breakfasts, Thanksgiving Community Dinner, Wonderland Community Dinner, RIC Community Block Party and Positively RIC!)
Offer two RICTrips a semester, past trips have included Apple Picking, Salem Halloween, Newport, King Arthurs Fair, Musicals, etc.
Ensure posters in Student Union and Bridge are up to date and relevant.

Required Qualifications
Education : Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree in student personnel / higher education administration or a related field.
Experience : 1-3 years of successful experience in a college or university setting such as might be gained in student activities, residence halls, or as a Student Affairs generalist.
