Major responsibilities
- Previous experience in assisting internal and external auditors during financial and operational audits
- Be able to clarify to non-financial staff members complicated financial subjects in special projects
- Assist in monitoring and maintaining internal accounting controls to ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley requirements
- Check and query a generous amounts of data
- Back a few different aspects of the monthly/quarterly/annual close process (i.e. journal entries, account reconciliations, expense analysis, and trend analysis, variance analysis)
- Determine veritable results at the corporate and division levels
- Utilize skill set in ensuring adequate controls and procedures
- Be instrumental in the preparation of monthly financial reporting and other business data
- Reinforce and assess budgets and income statement forecasts
- Engage in annual budgeting process
- Invent resourceful alternatives and a proposal to reduce costs and enhance financial performance of a company
Requirements
- Less than one year of experience preferred
- Strong communication and social skills and able to receive criticism well
- Skills in problem solving through statistical analysis or with large data sets highly desired (such as in derivatives, structured finance, or business analytics or in a similarly demanding and analytical role)
- Solid computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets and presentation software, as well as databases and customer database systems
- BA/BS degree in finance or a related field
- Government contracts experience
- Comprehensive knowledge of Budget Processes
- Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Can work independently with minimal supervision
