Job Description
The Nursing Manager ensures that the health care needs of clients are met, that their staff is trained in home care policies and procedures, and remain in compliance with the most current Assisted Living regulations.
Essential Job Functions
• Manage employees to ensure compliance with federal, state, local standards and regulations.
• Meet with Case Workers regularly.
• Investigate reports/incidents of suspected client neglect and/or abuse and reports these finding to the Director of Nursing (D.O.N) and/or an appropriate county and/or state official.
• Maintain confidentiality of client and all personnel.
• Record client data and billing information.
• Communicate/document client data to staff (as needed).
• Complete initial assessment of potential clients to assure that their needs will be met.
• Assure clients maintain residency requirements, reassess and recommend alternative placement (if necessary).
• Implement service agreements with all new clients. Review and revise service plans and care plans (as needed).
• Monitor client charts and nursing notes.
• Communicate any changes in client's needs/condition to physicians and other personnel (county caseworkers).
• Supervises Home Health Aides (H.H.A.'s)/Unlicensed Staff.
• Give input and/or help perform annual evaluations for nursing and Home Health Aides (H.H.A.'s)/Unlicensed Staff.
• Supervises and aids in disclipine of Home Health Aides (H.H.A.'s)/Unlicensed Staff.
• Provide health and medication training to all new employees and continued education for all personnel to assure compliance with state, federal and local regulations.
• Assure that staff clearly understands and follows all Assisted Living procedures.
• Monitor staff for compliance of monthly client treatments (as scheduled).
• Supervise medication practices and medical equipment being used.
• Ensure that medication procedures are being followed correctly.
• Facilitate coordination of client services with other service providers (as needed).
• Participate/lead staff meetings, committees, etc.
• Assist other departments with special events and family functions.
• Be flexible and adaptable to changing situations.
• Report injuries for self, staff, clients or visitors immediately to the Executive Director and/or the Director of Nursing.
Required Qualifications
• Must be registered in the State of Minnesota as a Registered Nurse (R.N.) and must maintain a current and unrestricted licensure.
• Must have a valid driver’s license. Driving may be necessary.
• Ability to lift/carry objects weighing up to approximately 30 lbs. or more and to meet all physical requirements related to this position.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in working with senior adults; knowledgeable and sensitive to the needs and concerns of the senior population.
• Minimum of two years of experience in a related field.
