River Rock Casino is Hiring a CONTROLLER Near Santa Rosa, CA

WORKING HOURS:
This is a salaried exempt position. The incumbent is expected to work the necessary hours to meet the needs of the establishment.
SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the COO/ Board of Directors, the Controller is responsible for directing the organization's accounting functions. These functions include but are not limited to establishing and maintaining the organization's accounting principles, practices, procedures, and initiatives. Prepares financial reports and presents findings and recommendations to top management and additional duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Primarily responsible for timely and accurate generation of all financial information for the organization, including but not limited to daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual information.
  2. Prepare accurate monthly closing and generate the financial statements in a timely manner.
  3. Compiles and completes all reporting requirements to Tribal, State and Federal agencies.
  4. Establishes and maintains the organization's accounting principles and procedures.
  5. Safeguards DCR assets.
  6. Ensures compliance with internal controls as required by Tribal, State and Federal agencies.
  7. Ensures accurate tracking and reporting of production costs, inventory valuation and cost analysis for Ohosa and Bellacana.
  8. Develops and maintains additional necessary internal controls.
  9. Prepares all audits and compliance reports and coordinates with Tribal, State and Federal agencies.
  10. Provides guidance to operating divisions regarding application of accounting policies.
  11. Assigns, coordinates, schedules, and reviews the work of accounting and finance staff.
  12. Coordinates annual financial audits with outside auditors.
  13. Prepares financial studies, pro-formas and analysis of existing and proposed business.
  14. Interprets financial statements to produce comparison to industry trends.
  15. Makes recommendations on suggested improvements in financial operations compared to industry-wide trends.
  16. Prepares short and long-range business assumptions and financial projections on special projects.
  17. Prepares operating and capital budgets for DCR & DCBA Operations.
  18. Assists with the assessment of economic impact of proposed transactions.
  19. Observes competitive operations and prepares financial comparisons for DCR & DCBA existing or proposed operations.
  20. Assists operational management with financial reports or analysis and makes presentations before Tribal Council, departments and committees as requested.
  21. Participate in various projects designed to improve the effectiveness of the finance department's operation as well as its contribution to the overall success of the organization.
  22. Acts as a role model and always presents oneself as a credit to DCR and encourages others to do the same.
  23. Meets the attendance guidelines of the job and adheres to regulatory, department and company policies and procedures.
  24. Performs other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, termination, planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, reward and disciplining employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required.
  1. Minimum ten (10) years total accounting experience; Four (4) years at the management level as Controller performing duties similar to those listed above experience required.
  2. Strong oral and written communications skills are essential.
  3. Knowledge of accounting rules, procedures and regulations required.
  4. Must be able to work harmoniously with all others.
  5. Must have excellent customer service skills.
  6. Must have excellent computer skills.
  7. Must present a cheerful and friendly personality and a well-groomed appearance at all times.
  8. Must have experience in dealing with government contracts and tracking of accounts receivable.
  9. Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality with respect to all matters pertaining to the gaming enterprise business.
EDUCATION:
  1. BA/BS with emphasis in Accounting required, a Masters degree from an accredited college or university in business or related field highly desired.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
  1. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  1. Excellent oral and written communication skills are important to the successful conduct of this position.
  1. Ability to write accurate, grammatically correct, polished reports and business correspondence.
  2. Must be able to speak with the public in a professional manner.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
  1. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure.
REASONING ABILITY:
  1. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  2. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  3. Ability to apply regulatory and procedure doctrine, concepts and policy to practical situations.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, REGISTRATIONS:
  1. CPA license desired.
  2. Must possessor the ability to obtain a current valid California driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  1. Must be able to sit and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  1. Must be able to lift and carry up to twenty five (25) pounds.
  2. Must be able to respond to visual and aural cues.
