About the role

We are looking for a Process Engineerwho will be responsible for the develop, maintain, monitor, and report on Tails deposition and distribution. In this role, you will be contributing through applying knowledge and experience in technical or professional discipline. Solving a range of problems using largely defined procedures and solutions. Receiving a moderate level of guidance and direction.

Reporting to the Tailings Technical Manager and working in a collaborative interplant community, and a challenging and exciting environment, you will be:

• Work with Senior Technical Adviser to develop, maintain, monitor, and report on Tails deposition and distribution.
• Utilize computer software Muk3D to forecast (model) deposition plan.
• Develop a plan to meet Tailings Impoundment annual deposition and distribution goals.
• Supports development of monthly schedule reports, including proper analysis
• Identifies improvement opportunities for streamlining work process.
• Maintains the relationship with contracting and other project planning stakeholders.
• Collaborates with the cost engineering and estimating groups to ensure that implications of changes are well articulated.
• Identify and help in the management of production conflicts by linking with other sectors for resolution.
• Provides planning support with a focus on improving long term asset health, reliability, availability and reduce critical failures through effective solutions.
• Prepares business cases as part of the progression of improvement solutions.
• Coordinates with other team members on assigned projects.
• Assists professional staff on larger, complex assignments or works independently on less complex assignment.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

• Mechanical ,Chemical or Industrial Engineering degree
• Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Mining or Tailings construction.
• Experience in modeling software with emphasis in an industrial and/or construction environment.
• Experience with integrating contractor schedules into a master project schedule.
• Ability to apply project scheduling practices to a variety of projects across disciplines.

Where you will be working

Our Kennecott mine is a world-class, fully integrated copper mining operation, including a concentrator, smelter, and refinery, located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, in the United States. We produce copper, precious metals including gold and silver, molybdenum, and sulfuric acid. Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich ore body of the Bingham Canyon Mine since 1903, and is one of the top producing mines in the world, comprising approximately 11 percent of U.S. annual copper production.
