Note: this position requires that you have extensive process plant (milling) experience in a mine. 

Purpose:

Reporting to a Lead Process Engineer, you may lead small brownfield studies/projects and/or provide process design support on larger studies/projects. The position has close interaction with other members of Process & Technology North America team and as well as other disciplines

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of a Lead Process Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Completing conceptual and/or detailed process engineering designs of new or revamp/additions to existing facilities.
  • Developing design basis documents (process design criteria, mass, energy, and water balances etc.) and reports.
  • Design, supervise metallurgical test work programs and analyzing results to develop/optimize flowsheet
  • Plant auditing, debottlenecking, and optimization
  • Carrying out calculations, design development and process simulations including providing specifications for process equipment and instrumentation.
  • Creating, reviewing, and revising process deliverables such as PFDs, P&IDs, line lists, control philosophies and data sheets.
  • Preliminary equipment sizing and communication with vendors to ensure selected equipment meets process requirements and executing technical bid evaluations.
  • Familiarity with major process equipment and suppliers.
  • Supporting Plot Plan and Piping Layout development.
  • Preparing Operating Cost estimate and aid in the development of Capital Cost estimate.
  • Interfacing and coordination between other discipline engineers and project management staff.
  • Reviewing and applying relevant standards, regulations, codes, best practices, and guidelines applicable for task, identify areas of deviation or concern.
  • Responsible for working within and following company work procedures, process technical guidelines, quality assurance plans, safety regulations and specific customer/project procedures.
  • Authenticating any of the above process deliverables per the customer requirements.
  • Participation in HAZOP and/or HAZID studies, Risk Assessments.
  • Operation/plant experience is considered an asset.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and continuous learning.

What you will bring

Technical/Industry Experience and Qualifications Requirements: 

  • Experience in base metals metallurgy with emphasis on all major base metals smelting and refining technologies.
  • Strong computer skills, proficient with MS Office software.
  • Experience in using METSIM, SysCAD, HSC, and other process simulation software is considered an asset.

Education – Qualifications, Accreditation, Training:

Required:

  • A Bachelor or Masters degree in Metallurgy (Hydro or Pyro), Chemical or Mineral Processing Engineering required.
  • Senior level (10 years) of relevant professional MINING and DOWNSTREAM processing experience required.
  • Five (5) or more years of operations and design experience required. 

Preferred:

  • Professional Engineer (PE) License strongly preferred.
