Description

Rincon Family Services (RFS) is a not-for-profit community organization, established in 1972 to combat the epidemic use of heroin and violence that were dismantling communities throughout Chicago. RFS is dedicated to rendering compassionate and effective programs that promote the quality of life by serving as a catalyst to advocate, educate, and empower individuals and their families.

POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the CDO, the Development Associate will support development efforts as RFS continues to grow. The Development Associate will have the opportunity to contribute build and manage the development functions within the agency, such as, special events, sponsorship solicitation, planned giving, institutional giving, and grant writing. The Development Associate is responsible for assisting in the development and execution of the annual strategic development plan. This is a hybrid position requiring in-person work and some remote may be possible at the discretion of the supervisor.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Grants Preparation and Management

· Solicit foundation and government grants.

· Submit full proposals, reports, program budgets, and letters of inquiry.

· Manage and maintaining grant tracker and calendar.

· Prepare regular updates to grant management tracking system on status of new opportunities, pending and proposals submitted.

· Review relevant websites, bulletins, newsletters, and other sources for updates about new funding opportunities, as well as renewals and continuation.

· Review notice of funding opportunities, prepare analysis and share information with team.

· Manage reporting requirements.

· Ensure timely gift acknowledgement.

· Cultivate and manage public, private, and corporate sponsorships and relations.

· Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

Program Design

· Review outcomes and deliverables of existing RFS programs.

· Meet with program staff to analyze and review outcomes to help in proposal development.

· Support hand off meetings in transfer of information to program staff upon notice of funding

· Research evidenced based practices for community-based programming including mental health and substance use treatment/prevention.

2. Engage in partnership development, relationship management and provide timely feedback to foster relationships for the organization.

3. Excellent time management required to meet grant deadlines and manage other responsibilities.

4. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

5. Ability to make public presentations.

6. Capable of balancing multiple priorities effectively.

OTHER REQUIRED ABILITIES:

1. Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with others.

2. Ability to maintain accurate records and necessary paperwork.

3. Willingness and ability to work occasional nights and weekends as necessary for special event management.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The Development Associate must be able to successfully perform essential functions of this job, including transporting paperwork and other materials between a variety of on-site and off-site locations and preparing for activities that may require traveling to off-site locations. She/he must be able operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, including a copier, and printer. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Bachelor’s degree required.

· Demonstrated competency in working with culturally-diverse, low-income clients.

· Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, the Internet, and general data entry.

· Must pass a background check.

· Strong leadership and communication skills.
