Richmond County Schools is Hiring an Administrative Assistant Near Rockingham, NC

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

Reports to: Principal

Qualifications:

  • Communication and interpersonal skills required to interact with co-workers parents, and the general public including both oral and written clarity, comprehension, and expression
  • High School diploma or equivalency certificate (GED) required
  • Two years experience required in schools or related field experience
  • Fluent in administrative and clerical procedures and systems including Microsoft Office or equivalent, electronic communication, data entry, cash register, operation of standard office equipment, managing files/records, and other office/school procedures and terminology
  • Time management and service-oriented skills
  • Exhibit problem-solving skills
  • Exhibit flexibility and ability to adapt to change
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • PowerSchool experience preferred

Duties:

  • Greets and assists customers, guests, visitors, parents, students, and staff with their questions and/or needs
  • Answers phone calls/emails to customers
  • Performs office work that supports the school operations and exercises discretion and judgment in relation to the general administration in and over those duties as assigned by the principal
  • Maintains and creates teacher files as directed by the principal
  • Create and maintain parent email list for the school staff, parent volunteer coordinators, and extra-curricular groups
  • Maintain scheduling of building and event calendars as directed by the principal, including updating the internal and external calendars
  • Maintain clean and organized personal and shared workspace
  • Maintain facility request forms
  • Process all supply orders
  • Organize and assist substitute teacher check-in and check out
  • Obtain, provide, and communicate general school information
  • Responsible for payroll, fire drill reports, handbooks, and staff information
  • Responsible for staff ID badges and the security door system
  • Responsible for office operations
  • Homecoming Parade coordinator
  • Graduation coordinator
  • All other duties assigned by the principal

Payroll Classification: Non-exempt Classified Supervisor: High School

Working Environment

The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; and significant fine finger dexterity. Work in this classification is considered light physical work requiring the exertion of up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to move objects. Generally, the job requires sitting, walking, and standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
