POSITION SUMMARY
Controller with a strong financial accounting and reporting background, including experience in project accounting. Responsible for overseeing all of the monthly accounting and financial reporting responsibilities as well as management of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and the General Ledger, and will have interaction with Divisional/Department Managers. This position reports directly to the OFM.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
· Coordinate the preparation of monthly financial reports to provide management with timely and accurate information as well as compliance with Bank/Lender requirements.
· Ensure the integrity of the financial statements as well as adherence to Company’s policies and procedures.
· Establish and maintain system safeguards for accurate financial reporting, including evaluation and alteration of existing accounting software.
· Oversee management and development, as well as providing leadership to accounting staff.
· Review, analyze and evaluate financial data for accuracy, consistency and transparency.
· Work In Progress preparation, accuracies and associated responsibilities, including but not limited to obtaining an understanding of significant project projections and its effects on the financial statements.
· Assist Operations to ensure that proper project cost controls are in place to improve project financial performance and Company’s net income.
· Ensure proper controls, processes and best practices are in place to safeguard company assets.
· Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
· Coordinate, review and oversee the preparation of documents, schedules and other supporting information as required by management
· Ensure compliance with all monthly and annual external reporting requirements including the filing of Sales/Use tax, Payroll Withholding, etc. with related taxing authorities.
· Coordinate the annual financial statement audit activities with the external auditors and annual tax filing activities with external tax preparers.
· Oversee and manage annual financial budget process
· The gathering of, review of, conclusion of and remittance of Company’s daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports to Dan on a weekly basis.
· Support OFM with special projects and workflow process improvements
· Perform other duties as assigned
· Responsible for procedures and processing of the areas that are defined as “accounting” (see last page)
· Thorough knowledge of general accepted accounting principles, including skills in the application of both general ledger and cost accounting especially as it relates to Project based accounting
· Must be proficient in Microsoft Office. In particular Microsoft Excel and its tools especially in the use of Macros, Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP’s
· Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities often with demanding time constraints
· Excellent interpersonal as well as verbal and written communication skills required
· Must have good command of the English language, oral and written.
EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:
· Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Certified Public Accounting License
EXPERIENCE:
Preferred: 15 years of experience; experience in Public Accounting; accounting background in manufacturing or construction trade
QUALIFICATIONS:
o Comprehensive knowledge and experience of finance and accounting
o Ability to communicate requirements in an industrial environment, and to give effective direction by using written and/or verbal skills where appropriate.
o Excellent Customer Service and Client Communications skills.
o Experience in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Power Point
PHYSICALDEMANDS:
· The performance of this position involves exposure to construction or industrial areas where the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hard hats and hearing protection is required.
· Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking, and driving in an automobile
· May require walking and standing on irregular, uneven surfaces in an industrial setting and possibly at increased heights climbing and descending ladders and ship stairways.
