Employment Status:  Seasonal/Part-Time As Needed

5 Hours per week when needed

FLSA Status: Non-exempt/Hourly

Schedule: Weekends and/or occasional Monday-Friday

Reports to: Pastor

· Primary work days: Weekends as needed for events from 5:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. Stays during the entire event.

· Checks and reviews calendar for events.

· Sets up tables/chairs (do not drag) for any event scheduled in the hall/room.

· Opens the hall/room and sets temperature.

· After Saturday evening events, sets up tables and chairs for Sunday breakfast (as needed)

· Cleans up messes as they occur in the hall or restrooms.

· Cleans up tables and chairs.

· Sweeps and mops.

· Checks bathrooms (hall or pavilion) and ensures there is toilet paper/paper towels, and cleans, as needed, for Sunday.

· If kitchen was approved to be used, ensures it is left clean; checks the ice maker and refrigerator to ensure they are working during an event.

· Empties all trash cans and takes trash to outside garbage dumpster and keeps track of key that opens the dumpster.

· At the end of the event, ensures the light and heater/air conditioner are turned off. Locks up the hall building and sets the alarm before leaving work.

· If the pavilion is rented, ensures all the gates are locked at the end of the event and the outside restroom is clean, re-stocked, and locked, and trash is put in outside garbage dumpster.

· Other duties as assigned.

In absence of full-time custodian:
· Daily – opens chapel by 7:00 a.m.

· Daily – cleans and empties trash in the Pastor’s office/restroom.

· Daily – cleans main office and empties the trash.

· Daily – cleans the office building’s restrooms.

· Daily – cleans classrooms and assigned areas to include dusting, sweeping, mopping, buffing floors, vacuuming, carpet cleaning and other duties as needed.

· Daily – sanitizes areas as needed.

· Daily – keeps buildings, restrooms, office, classrooms, and church clean and attractive, well-maintained and energy efficient.

· Daily – lifts and carries supplies, equipment, deliveries, etc. weighing up to 30 lbs.

· Daily – reviews calendar on use of the hall/classrooms and sets-up rooms in the manner and timeframe requested (tables, chairs, microphone, erase boards, etc.)

· Daily – maintains security of parish buildings by locking doors and windows (esp. in the evening), activating and deactivating building alarm, and responding to alarm calls after and during regular work hours.

· Daily – performs and documents routine inspection and maintenance activities.

· Weekly – ensures the kitchen is clean after a function.

· As needed – assists staff and volunteers with manual tasks.

· As needed – performs minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and painting.

· Observes and adheres to all safety work and health policies and procedures.

· Other duties as assigned by Pastor or his designee.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
2. Experience with past custodial work or building maintenance preferred but not required.
3. Experience with general maintenance and repair of church buildings, grounds, and equipment
4. Knowledge of minor carpentry, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and painting.
