We are currently looking for an experienced Corporate Controller to join our team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This is a full time - exempt position requiring a minimum of 5 years of experience.

Controller Job Summary:

The Controller is a key member of the finance team and is responsible for driving the timely preparation of financial statements, reviewing, and monitoring internal controls, preparation of budget and reporting of financial results to the appropriate levels within the organization. This role will provide accounting management to the team and is required to develop a high performing staff. He or she will partner with the broader leadership team to achieve division goals and objectives.

Essential Controller Duties & Functions:

  • Guide all operations of the finance department, including accounts payable, billings & collections, and payroll.
  • Manage the creation of the annual budget and forecasts and monitor them monthly.
  • Assess, execute, and streamline policies, procedures, controls, and most methodologies.
  • Check deliverables of self and team to certify they meet expectations.
  • Prepare cash-flow reports that project cash needs at weekly and monthly intervals and handle daily cash management.
  • Manage the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions, ensuring timely processing and accuracy.
  • Perform tasks associated with month-end and year-end close of income statement and balance sheet, account reconciliations & G/L analysis.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors, tax advisory, and regulatory agencies.
  • Collaborate closely with executive team and partners to ensure efficient and successful company-wide operation.
  • Present executive committee and partners with monthly financial reports
  • Develop and implement internal control procedures to safeguard assets and mitigate financial risks.
  • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and accounting principles.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.

Controller Qualifications:

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field: CPA certification preferred.

Experience

  • 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including as a Controller preferred.
  • Restaurant industry experience a plus
  • Strong understanding of financial principles, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proficiency in accounting software and systems
  • Outstanding analytical, quantitative, and social skills
