Reed College is Hiring a Production Manager Near Portland, OR

Reed College seeks a Production Manager to provide leadership, organization and communication to effectively manage the logistics to deliver a variety of successful Dance and Theater productions. On an annual basis, the Dance and Theater departments produce between 12-14 shows of varying scales.

This is a full-time, 37.5 hour a week exempt role with typical work hours of 8:30 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. with a one hour unpaid lunch. Work hours may vary as needed based on productions with some evening and weekend work required. Pay for this position starts between $63,000 and $69,000 annualized. Pay offers are dependent on experience and are determined in conjunction with an internal pay equity assessment. This position is a one year limited-duration appointment with the possibility of renewal for a total of two years. This position is on grade EX-6.

Who You Are

  • You are experienced in stage and production management
  • You have experience mentoring, leading or supervising members of a production team
  • You take the initiative and have a plan and have demonstrated experience in anticipating evolving production needs
  • You are self-aware. You understand your own culture, identity, biases, prejudices, power, privilege, and stereotypes
  • You understand inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility, and are able to effectively communicate and collaborate across differences
  • You are an excellent verbal and written communicator with strong interpersonal skills and an ability to work collaboratively
  • You are highly organized and use your creative thinking skills to solve complex problems
  • You have the interest and aptitude for teaching
  • You have a learning mentality and are good at analyzing hypothetical situations to formulate connections and new insights
  • You are able to work nights and weekends as needed to support productions

What You’ll Do

  • Create and manage production calendars for all theater and dance productions
  • Coordinate specific plans and goals for each production
  • Supervise production staff as assigned
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff and contracted designers and technical crews to ensure technical elements of each production are completed safely, on time and on budget
  • Schedule, plan and run production meetings
  • Attend and facilitate all technical and dress rehearsals
  • Coordinate with multiple internal and external partners to ensure space, equipment needs, ticketing, house management, scheduling and procedures are all met
  • Create, document and implement best practices for student production work
  • Teach students in a staff-taught Stagecraft course with a focus on stage management and production processes
  • Train and supervise student stage managers
  • Coordinate residency events
  • Coordinate theater and dance rehearsal spaces and schedules

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 3 years relevant work experience in a production environment
