The Director, Business Development - Missions and Platforms will lead the development, implementation, and execution of strategies designed to drive business growth and technology development for Redwire’s Missions and Platforms' Business Units. The successful candidate will demonstrate potential to expand Redwire’s role in the Department of Defense (DoD) and Intelligence Community (IC) space solutions markets through constant customer engagements focused on gaining and building customer trust and Redwire’s credibility as a leader in innovative space capabilities. Candidates must show proven business development experience in the US Gov. industry.
Desirable characteristics include a candidate with successful military or industry career with experience in military operations, requirements development, procurement, acquisition, and joint military operations. Ideally, candidates will have a functional knowledge of all Services, to include the Space Force, Space Development Agency, and National Reconnaissance Office and will have established relationships with mid-level key decisionmakers. The candidate must hold US Government security clearances and also demonstrate successful performance leading business development, capture, and proposal teams to win large DoD/IC opportunities, while developing an enabling pipeline designed for aggressive growth.
Responsibilities:
  • Leads missions and platform BD activities at Redwire.
  • Lead business development with responsibility to grow DoD/IC annual sales $50M-100M .
  • Developing, maintaining, and growing a network of relationships, with both existing and potential Redwire customers throughout the DoD/IC focused on growth and cultivate relationships with potential partners in industry and academia.
  • Support critical operations activities for the Redwire Chief Growth Officer.
  • Identify, shape, and manage strategic opportunities that support business growth objectives.
  • Identify, structure, and lead capture of new opportunities by leveraging internal research and development investments, enabling new capabilities or offerings to DoD clients and other organizations.
  • Draft reports, presentations and documentation (e. g., internal and government stakeholder briefings) for senior leaders at Redwire.
  • Prepare white papers and other materials to support advocacy efforts.
  • Provide market and competitor intelligence on market segments where the BU is engaged, as well as insights on competition specific to individual opportunities.
  • Participate, collaborate, and/or lead capture and proposal teams to establish overall proposal strategies and themes which clearly differentiate Redwire from other potential providers.
  • Assisting Business Unit Presidents and BD teams in the efficient and effective use of marketing resources across multiple customer organizations.
  • Lead business development initiatives with responsibility to help Redwire’s business development team grow its DoD/IC annual revenue. Experience participating, collaborating, and/or lead strategies and themes which clearly differentiate Redwire from other potential providers.
  • Coordinate with internal executives and subject matter experts (e. g., business development, program management, technical, finance, legal, and others) and the overall company position incorporate operating group requirements.
  • Leverages previous knowledge of missions and platform prime or lead system integrator development life cycle activities including MBSE, CONOPS development, assembly, integration and testing activities to prepare mission systems for shipment to launch sites.
  • Serves as business development representative for satellite mission and payload concepts development activities.
  • Provide thought leadership within Redwire, with our partners, and across the industry.
Ideal Experience:
  • Bachelor/s Degree or higher, preferably in a technical, business, or strategic discipline with a minimum of 15 years of prior related experience.
  • Must have a TS/SCI government security clearance.
  • Existing network of contacts within the DoD/IC and the ability to leverage these into qualified business opportunities.
  • Leadership capability to guide business or functional teams without formal management role.
  • Requires both business knowledge and technology awareness and relevance to government interests.
  • Expertise with identifying, shaping, and managing strategic missions and payload opportunities that support business growth objectives.
  • Customer interaction/exposure to the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community, NASA, NOAA, and Industry partners.
  • Experience with Military Services & Acquisition Process, US Budgetary process, and the Program Objective Memorandum (POM) process.
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing complex Government budget information (DoD/IC POM) and communicating trends effectively using tools such as power point.
  • Experience selling consulting/engineering services to industry, military, and civil space organizations.
  • Experience working with business units, both collectively and individually, to drive policy consensus and effectively represent organization interests.
  • Customer interaction/exposure to the Department of Defense, the Intelligence Community.
  • Demonstrated ability to present technical presentations to internal and external customers.
