Responsibilities:

  • This is a technical role with requirements and opportunities for growth in the area of business acumen, including the management of team budget, vendors, processes, and business partner relationships.     • Technical expertise and administration: Partner with IT colleagues to oversee the architecture, support, and evolution of RTI’s global infrastructure and Linux endpoints that directly impact and contribute to our R&D software development and overall business processes.
    • Leadership: Lead, mentor, and serve as a technical escalation point, fostering a culture of shared success.
    • Solution Design Through Delivery: Work closely with cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable and sustainable solutions that address business needs, ensuring functionality, performance, and ease of maintenance. Lead, manage, and contribute to projects from concept to completion, ensuring timely delivery and effective communication with stakeholders.
    • User Training, Documentation, and Support: Provide training and support to end-users to ensure they effectively leverage infrastructure and automation capabilities. Create and maintain comprehensive documentation and training material of configurations, processes, and best practices. Monitor, detect, respond, and resolve issues and complete requests. 
    • Business Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with business stakeholders, especially with Research & Development (R&D), to understand their requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and guide them in making informed decisions that align with best practices.
    • Security and Compliance: Implement and enforce security best practices, ensuring data privacy and protection in accordance with relevant compliance standards and change control.
    • Process Optimization: Identify areas for process improvement and automations, streamlining workflows and enhancing overall productivity.

Requirements:

  • Expert knowledge and hands-on expertise of 8 years of architecture, design, administration, and security: Ubuntu, RHEL, oVirt, and GlusterFS.
  • Strong knowledge and hands-on experience of 5 years of architecture, design, administration, and security: automation tools (Ansible, rundeck), asset management, web service (Apache, NGINX, TomCat), monitoring (Zabbix), antivirus, NFS, remote access (iDrac, KVM, etc.), scripting (Shell, Python, APIs), and syslog.
  • Moderate knowledge and hands-on experience of 3 years of administration and security: DevOps practice (infrastructure-as-code), fog, cloudinit, etc, containers (Docker, Kubernetes, etc.), Windows and Mac (server) OSes, databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, etc.), and SSL certificate management, ZFS, samba, ldap/ad/FreeIPA, Jira, and lateral thinking.
  • Strong communicator, both written and verbal; reliable, responsive, and transparent communication is critical for this role
  • Ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels to design and implement scalable, best practice solutions
  • Experience with change management and governance
  • Intense curiosity and a sincere interest in learning new technologies, platforms, and business processes
  • A proactive attitude to enhancements and customer service.
  • US Citizenship required *Due to applicable laws, government regulations and contract specifications, we are required to fill this position only with an individual who qualifies as a "U.S. Citizen."

Bonus Points:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a technical or business related discipline
  • Experience with networking (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless, etc.), cloud (AWS and Azure) administration, OpenStack, and platform (RTO Linux, QNX, VxWorks), ARM virtualization, Risc-V SBDs, Powershell, FreeIPA, Freebsd, other posix compliant OSes(AIX), forman, mass.io, kickstart, K3S, openshift, rancher
  • Project management experience with a proven track record of success.
  • Spanish proficiency
