Title: Corporate Accountant Department: Fiscal

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Audit & Accounting Manager

Flex Status: Flexible Effective: April 25, 2023

Salary Range: $56,139 – $74,339

Position Summary

This position will cover daily accounting transactions, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting. The Corporate Accountant assists in annual corporate audits, payroll reconciliations, and Housing Development support. 

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

Supports Audit and Accounting Manager (60%)

 

  • Conducts account analysis and reconciliations with emphasis on payroll GL accounts reconciliations: Salaries Payable, Employee Benefits Payable (Medical, Dental, HSA, FSA, Other Deductions), Accrued Vacations.

  • Prepares and posts journal entries for quarterly payroll adjustments.

  • Prepares and posts payroll allocations for subsidiary properties on a semi-monthly basis.

  • Assists with month-end and year-end closings and audits.
  • Assists with Housing Development Receivable GL account reconciliations and with maintaining accounting files for Housing Development projects.

Supports Accounting Manager (20%)

  • Prepares and posts journal entries, including transactions for subsidiary properties and cash receipts.
  • Assists with credit card processing as needed.

 

Supports Controller and CFO on Housing Development Accounting (20%)

  • Assists with all facets of the Housing Development accounting. This includes invoice management and draws, attending Housing Development meetings when needed, providing financial data to Housing Development team when requested, and performing general ledger tasks.

General

  • Assists with Fiscal projects and performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Ability to practice cultural humility when interacting with co-workers and clients of diverse ethnic, religious, political, and cultural backgrounds and sexual or gender identities, treating everyone with respect and dignity.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Possess strong knowledge of accounting and financial principles and practices, mathematical, and analytical skills. 
  • Working knowledge of MS Office, intermediate Excel skills: Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP.
  • Working knowledge of Smartphone technology including phone calls, email, calendar, and text.
  • Strong interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills; ability to communicate in an effective and concise manner.
  • Positive outlook. Flexibility and willingness to perform other tasks as assigned.

Scope & Accountability:

  • Operates from established and well-known procedures and practices.
  • Decisions are made within established organization guidelines.
  • Performs majority of duties independently with minimal supervision but must be comfortable with working in a team-oriented environment.
  • Position involves a high degree of complexity in dealing with recurring work situations with many variations from the norm. Supervisor reviews work.

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • The job is not supervisory in nature, although information, support, and work

direction may be provided to co-workers and supervisors.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree specializing in accounting or related field preferred.
  • Minimum three years equivalent level experience, preferably in a similar setting. 
  • Housing Development/Construction Accounting experience preferred.
  • Yardi experience. Job Cost module is a plus.
