Position in this function is rsponsible for providing integrated support under the supervision of a pharmacist to Optum clinicians and patients by managing refill requests and prior authorizations, conducting therapeutic drug conversions and supporting pharmacy wellness programs.

Primary Responsibilities : Consistently exhibits behavior and communication skills that demonstrate Optum’s commitment to superior customer service, including quality, care and concern with each and every internal and external customer Works as a member of the Pharmacy Support Center by processing medication refill requests per protocol, facilitating non-protocol refill requests, obtaining prior authorizations and resolving other medication refill related issues or problems Documents pertinent patient information in the electronic medical record Participates in therapeutic drug conversion programs by conducting therapeutic drug conversions per protocol, documenting drug conversions in the electronic medical record, notifying providers of drug conversions and providing patient education regarding these changes Assists with data management and recording results for month-end reports Answering incoming phone calls and directing patient messages Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading professional publications Participates in process improvement initiatives, site staff meetings and departmental meetings Uses, protects, and discloses Optum patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards Adheres to Universal Precautions and safety policies and procedures at all times Performs additional duties as assigned You’ll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.

Required Qualifications : Graduate of an accredited pharmacy technician program or equivalent training; NM Board of Pharmacy registration upon date hired Pharmacy Tech Certification Certified by Pharmacy Technician Certification Board 1 years of related experience Basic knowledge of medical and pharmacy terminology Knowledge of Windows and MS applications (Word, Excel) Computer literate Proven ability to demonstrate basic knowledge in medication therapeutic categories Proven ability to identify generic name for brand name drugs and vice versa Proven ability to demonstrate basic knowledge in understanding indication for medication Proven ability to log on to computer and using keyboard, mouse and email applications Proven can do keyboard activity, telephone use and writing Preferred Qualifications : 1 years experience in hospital, ambulatory care, retail, or other healthcare setting Experience in managed care setting Proven ability to communicate effectively Proven ability to type 40 wpm Proven ability to work in a relatively unsupervised environment with a high degree of accuracy Proven excellent organizational, interpersonal, and decision-making skills Proven excellent verbal and written communication skills *All employees working remotely will be required to adhere to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy At UnitedHealth Group, our mission is to help people live healthier lives and make the health system work better for everyone.
