Position Overview

The Field Service Intern is responsible for assisting other Technicians and Project Managers in overseeing job projects from start to finish ensuring compliance with Company standard practices and procedures. Responsibilities include learning the basics of testing, wiring, and repair of circuit breakers, transformers, motor control, switchgear, and other electrical apparatus in the shop and field.

Responsibilities

• Review job scope and only work under supervision of a Senior Technician or Supervisor to with execute scope
• Support in proper documentation for all jobs
• Complete and maintain current with all OSHA required training and other technical training prescribed by supervisor
• Assist on performing testing on electrical apparatus equipment including Megger, Ductor, Hi-Pot, Hi-Current, and Timing Tests
• Complete mechanical work and repairs on breakers
• Perform wiring in switchgear and on breakers as required
• Utilize and accurately read meters
• Perform troubleshooting and basic repair of equipment
• Read schematics and wiring drawings
• Accurately and consistently document test results using Power DB
• Attend safety training applicable to NETA Field Service Technicians
• Participate in apparatus training sessions in conjunction with on the job training
• Complete apparatus internship PQS covering safety, operations, testing, and theory
• Develop in the areas of electrical theory, apparatus design, and protection and controls

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s program
• Ability to carry out instructions, written or verbal; deal with problems involving several variables.
• Wanting to learn and have a career in the power industry; able to work well as a team
• Addition, subtraction, division, multiplication, algebra, and some calculus
• Ability to read company manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures; speak with confidence, using correct English
