Job Description
The Human Resources (HR) Director is a key leadership role at Quality Tool and Stamping (QTS). In this role, you are responsible for leading Human Resources Operations, providing strategic direction for all HR-related policies and programs and maintaining a culture which successfully attracts, retains, and engages high performing diverse employees and stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
● Overall ownership and support of all people operations processes including hiring and onboarding, compensation reviews and planning, benefits administration (insurance, 401K oversight, other employee benefits), legal and regulatory compliance as it relates to employment, payroll, and HR administration practices.
● Serves as an advisor and consultant to leadership, proactively identifying and improving areas of weakness regarding talent, structures, processes, and organizational culture.
● Builds relationships with departments and leaders across the organization to increase communication and transparency and to provide teams with needed HR support.
● Serves as a tactful HR leader for employees to discuss and problem-solve confidential and personal experiences within the organization.
● Fosters the organization's values and culture in partnership with senior leadership.
● Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
● Develops learning and development initiatives and helps drive a high-performance, high-growth mindset that focuses on career development and growth.
● Participates in and supports the establishment of long-range objectives of HR programs and policies and establishes and maintains department metrics and goals.
● Understands, utilizes, and promotes systems/processes within QTS that impact the HR function while leveraging Lean principles to drive waste out of the HR function.
● Mentors managers on compliance with state and federal statutory requirements including the Fair Labor Standard Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, unemployment and workers’ compensation regulations, and other states of federal employment laws.
● Partners extensively with the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team and operational leaders to support EHS initiatives.
● Guide managers to provide consistent feedback to employees regarding job performance and accomplishment of goals. Address performance by fairly administering actions using the Company policy and Employee Handbook.
Qualifications
● 5 years hands-on experience across the full range of human resources functions in a manufacturing setting. Experience with family-owned business preferred.
● Ability to foster relationships with all levels of the team, to relate well with others, to listen effectively, and to help employees at all levels achieve their development goals.
● Strong influencing, communication, team building, presentation, negotiating, problem solving, and conflict resolution skills
● Highly ethical individual with unquestioned integrity and the experience, confidence, and stature to effectively address sensitive HR and business issues with complete discretion and confidentiality.
● Data driven decision-maker with the ability to advocate for investments in people operations strategies from a return-on-investment perspective.
● Deep knowledge of legal HR compliance matters. Knowledge of Michigan and U.S. employment laws and regulations required.
● PHR or SHRM CP certification, preferred
● Knowledge of Department of Labor (DOL), Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), workers compensation, employment and labor laws and regulations
● Understanding of Lean manufacturing concepts as they apply to support functions
