JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB TITLE: Human Resources Benefits Coordinator

CLASSIFICATION: Salary

PAYSCALE: Grade O

REPORTS TO: Associate Superintendent of Human Services

SUPERVISES: Not Applicable

TERMS:
This position is a 260 total paid days position offering full family medical, dental, and vision benefits. Dental, vision, and life insurance are paid by the district at no cost to the employee. Vacation, personal business days, holidays and sick time paid. Retirement through the Office of Retirement Services (Pension Plus or Defined Contribution).

SALARY RANGE:
This position is on Grade O, $41620.67-$54807.87 per year. 

GENERAL JOB FUNCTION:

The Human Resources Benefits Coordinator administers all employee benefit enrollments, status changes, benefit terminations, and performs ongoing benefit administration functions as well as other functions within the department. This position works with all MAISD departmental staff to maximize the efficiency of the Human Resources department.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Associate's Degree or higher in Human Resources Management, Accounting, or a related area of study.
  2. Experience with employee benefits such as healthcare benefits, ancillary benefits, worker’s compensation, unemployment, and other human resource benefit operations.
  3.  Demonstrated proficiency with a variety of spreadsheet, word processing and data entry systems; experience with computerized accounting and recordkeeping systems.
  4. Evidence of organizational efficiency and effective communication skills.
  5. No physical or mental restrictions that would, with reasonable accommodation, prevent performance of the essential job functions and responsibilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Experience with Human Resources Information Systems and Payroll Systems.
  2. At least two years successful experience with benefit management in a human service agency work environment.
  3. Basic accounting experience related to employee HR operations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Serves as the MAISD Benefits Coordinator for MAISD employee health benefits elections and maintenance.
  2. Coordinates yearly open enrollment process for MAISD staff. 
  3. Monthly financial reconciliation of employee benefits for bi-weekly payroll and year-end audit.
  4. Performs all assigned benefit administration functions according to established standards as required by State and Federal regulations (ACA and others)
  5. Files, tracks, and maintains Worker’s Compensation claims and unemployment claims.
  6. Works with MAISD staff regarding employee leaves of absence, the Family Medical leave Act (FMLA), and other employee leaves. 
  7. Provides assistance to the Associate Superintendent for Human Services with special projects and assignments.
  8. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by supervisor(s).

NOTABLE PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The Human Resources Benefits Coordinator may occasionally be required to lift light to moderately heavy supplies and materials.

OPPORTUNITY FOR ADVANCEMENT:

Advancement to Human Resources Specialist, with appropriate experience and professional development.

TYPICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Most work is accomplished in a general office environment.

EVALUATION:

Employees in this classification are evaluated according to current Board policy.

Some local travel may be required.
