We are currently seeking a Construction Accountant. Our Ideal candidate will be initiative-taking and have a positive attitude.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform daily and monthly accounting functions as assigned including, but not limited to:

• Perform month-end closing procedures including revenue recognition, accruals, expense review and account reconciliations.
• Track fixed assets and maintain related depreciation schedules for book and tax.
• Accounting for monthly inventories.
• Accounting for construction projects and work-in-progress.
• Accounting for equipment (revenue tracking, costing, purchases, and sales).
• Accounting for leases.
• Maintain and review general ledger accounts.
• Prepare monthly financial statements.
• Prepare various year-end schedules and workpapers for CPA reviewed year-end financial statements.
• Accounting for payroll and maintenance of systems.
• Maintain databases, excel spreadsheets and other software used in the accounting department.
• Assist Human Resources with benefits and other tasks as requested.
• Other duties as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Identify opportunities to improve processes and leverage technology to make role more efficient.
• Understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Strong analytical skills.
• Detail-oriented and organized.
• Experience with Sage 300 Construction & Real Estate accounting software preferred.
• Must be able to effectively handle multiple duties simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently, as part of a team and take on new tasks as needed to improve financial process and reporting.
• Construction accounting knowledge preferred.
• Strong spreadsheet proficiency (Microsoft Excel required).
• Relational database skills (Microsoft Access or equivalent program required).

Education and Certification

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or equivalent, from an accredited university.
• CPA or CMA preferred.

Experience

• Three years' experience in public or private accounting.
• Construction Industry accounting experience preferred.
• Management Information System experience preferred.
