Summary:

We’re seeking a talented and experienced Buyer (Electronic Components) to join our client. As a Buyer, you will be responsible for managing all aspects of your assigned commodities. This will help to ensure they delivers quality products that meet their customer delivery requirements.
Job Description:
  • Ordering Material for Inventory: You will review the material requirements in the system, determine order quantities, and order parts for your assigned commodities. You’ll need to negotiate the best pricing while ordering to keep inventory quantities low.
  • Non-Inventory Purchases: Youwill enter Purchase Requisitions submitted by internal customers. Your good communication of delivery information or changes helps ensure all internal customers’ requirements are met.
  • Assuring the Supply: You will support requests to fill shortages that may occur in Production. This involves pivoting your activities to search for inventory and place an order or negotiating with vendors to expedite a delivery on an existing order. Your quick actions will help to reduce any build delays in Production.
  • Managing Vendors: You will build new and established vendor relationships, recommend new vendors, set-up vendors according to the company processes, communicate delivery performance, process rejections and work quality issues. You will share successes and wins with vendors and coach for improvement, when needed.
  • Quoting and Negotiating Pricing: You will play a key role in the cost of products in relation to the parts you manage. Avoiding negative PPV, negotiating cost reductions and quoting multiple sources are key to assuring product cost targets are met.
  • Change Management (ECN): You will review and implement changes from the Engineering Change program. This includes reviewing the ECN for new parts and deleted parts, placing orders and canceling orders for newly obsolete/unused parts.
  • Inventory: You will review open POs against the system demand and push out or cancel POs for excess material. Your on-going management of incoming material can have a large impact on managing and reducing the component inventory.
  • ISO: You will participate in the annual ISO audits. This involves understanding the department processes and participating in the Purchasing Department section of the audit.
  • Other Projects or Duties: You will participate in other projects or activities as assigned. Some of the include setting up Purchasing information for part numbers in the systems, working to reduce lead-times for assigned commodities, obtaining RoHS compliance certificates, and managing AVL updates.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree or
  • 5 years of experience as an electronics buyer for a manufacturing company.
  • Extensive knowledge of buying and operations gained through progressive buying experience.
  • Exceptional communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Takes strong ownership of projects with personal emphasis on accuracy and detail orientation.
  • Well organized, methodical, and consistent in work product.
  • Possess a strong desire to learn with a positive attitude.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at a time while paying strict attention to detail.
  • Responds well under pressure, always maintaining professionalism.
  • Excellent listening, understanding, prioritizing, and time management skills.
