The Promontory Club is looking to fulfill a vacancy for a Club Kid’s Cabin Youth Counselor – Full time – Summer Seasonal.

The Kid’s Cabin Youth Counselor provides a fun, positive, and exciting environment for members ages 4-12. Counselors will help plan and implement activities ranging from arts and crafts, STEAM challenges to outdoor adventure activities. Counselors will be responsible for the safety and well being of each child in our care. Counselors will, at times, oversee that policies and procedures are followed and that communication is consistent and clear with members, children, and other staff members.

The summer season will range from end of May through the beginning of September. This position will have the ability for top performers to continue their employment with Promontory after the summer season.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Organize and implement daily activities that meet the goals of the Kids’ Cabin.
• Have the ability to plan and develop program activities that focus on art, nature, outdoor recreation and development of community.
• Participate directly with children and youth during activities.
• Make sure that all policies and procedures are followed on a day-to-day basis.
• Assist in maintaining a positive atmosphere for all children, families and staff.
• Meet often with the manager in developing and maintaining quality program and activities.
• Be a positive role model for children.
• Have energy and creativity in order to participate in activities, field trips and events with the children.
• Attend all staff meetings.
• Follow through on all other assignments as directed by the immediate supervisor
• Attend Promontory wide events as directed by management.
• Follow all company safety and security policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries and unsafe work practices to management; complete safety training and certifications.
• Other duties as assigned by the Director of the Kids Cabin.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS AND CERTIFICATIONS: High School diploma or general education degree (GED) is preferred; must be at least 18 years of age and be able to pass a pre – employment background check; First Aid / CPR certification is required (training/certification will be offered if needed).

PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: One (1) year of related work experience in a child or youth facility is preferred; must have excellent customer service and communication skills; basic computer skills and competency in the following, Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook preferred.

WORKING KNOWLEDGE TO BE ACQUIRED ON JOB: Abide by Promontory policies and procedures and submit ideas for possible revision; work independently with little supervision; courteous and helpful with Promontory Club Members and employees; must practice proper and timely communication.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS: Must be willing to work various hours, nights, holidays and weekends when needed; must be able to stand on feet for long periods of time; ability to lift 25lbs regularly and the ability to lift up to 50lbs occasionally.

Must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Wages start at $17/hr and will be determined upon employment and will be commensurate with experience.
