Project Ronin is Hiring a Remote Staff Systems Informaticist

Project Ronin is developing disruptive and cutting edge healthcare insight & clinical decision support products to address the needs of providers and patients everywhere. Our Informatics team needs driven and curious Staff Informatics professionals to lead the development of systems that support both internal and external demands for data driven insights. We invite individuals who are eager to learn and would enjoy being part of a team focused on daily innovation and disruption in the field of healthcare informatics. We're seeking individuals who are comfortable with a critical appraisal of the status quo in healthcare technology and are excited to develop rapidly while embracing interoperability from day one of each initiative. Our team is highly collaborative; we utilize pair programming or mob programming on a daily basis. This role will include both personally leading cross-team and cross-department software projects, as well as overseeing projects led by others and mentoring them during the process.

As part of the Informatics team, you will develop the needed systems and components to normalize clinical data. You will develop and implement clinical logic to enable healthcare providers and patients make informed decisions surrounding cancer care. You will be challenged with contextualizing healthcare data & empowering others across Ronin to leverage healthcare data through developing the integration of reference content such as patient education and treatment guidelines for providers. You will partner with clinicians, application developers, data scientists, clinical informaticists, data engineers and product managers to develop services and solutions that meet the needs of providers and patients alike.

Here's what you will do day to day:

  • Architect software systems and either implement them or oversee their implementation
  • Conduct code reviews and provide feedback to others writing software.
  • Build systems to normalize and standardize healthcare data to standard medical terminologies (such as LOINC, SNOMED CT, and RxNorm)
  • Develop, implement, and maintain CDS logic in Python and PySpark
  • Design, construct, implement and maintain healthcare content and data API's to power reference services and applications
  • Explore, analyze, and model clinical data and clinical content such as terminologies and commercial databases
  • Collaborate with other disciplines across Ronin including Data Science, Data Engineering, Product Engineering and Development Subject Matter Experts
  • Lead the Systems Development Life Cycle of clinical informatics and products as appropriate for subject matter expertise
  • Contribute to publications & submissions to professional standards organizations and trade groups
  • Contribute to team involvement in professional standards organizations and trade groups such as monthly HL7 workgroups & AMIA
  • Lead training and education sessions at the team and organizational level

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience building and maintaining software in critical, production applications at scale
  • Ability to lead large, cross-functional projects across several departments as the primary technical leader.
  • 6 years of professional experience with 4 years focusing on:
    • Experience using Python, or a similar language
    • Expertise in transforming data and information models into performant relational database designs
    • Implementing comprehensive, automated testing for software
    • Contributing to the development of reference content and information systems using standards compliant frameworks such as REST
    • Designing and documenting information systems for multiple stakeholders and use cases
    • Using version control systems (like Git)
  • Working knowledge of
    • FHIR
    • US Core Data for Interoperability
    • Healthcare, Clinical or Biomedical Terminologies or Ontologies
  • Graduate training or advanced experience in:
    • Systems Theory, Systems/Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Healthcare Interoperability, Systems Visualization such as Process Mapping, Systems Diagramming or UML.

Have these skills as well? Even better.

  • Experience with Agile software development, using frameworks such as Scrum
  • Clinical or healthcare experience with health information systems or standards beyond FHIR, including (but not limited to HL7 v2, CDA, etc.)
  • Experience designing or prototyping clinical decision support systems
  • Experience building data pipelines or ETL systems
  • Experience building, maintaining, or querying a clinical data warehouse
  • Reference content or information system management experience
  • Previous experience in healthcare operations

The base salary for this role is $161-173k annually with an equity component. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise & may vary from the amount above.
