Private Law Firm is Hiring a Remote Paralegal

Private law firm located in central Florida is looking for an experienced paralegal to join our team to work remotely out of the comfort of your own home as a full-time employee.

In this paralegal position, you will be responsible for staying organized, following rules, guidelines, policies and procedures while maintaining client’s files, preparing discovery documents, preparing files for trial, preparing exhibits, etc. The paralegal must understand the court system and how to stay flexible with the revolving judge’s rules along with proper procedures for handling cases based on each county’s different rules/regulations. The paralegal must have a professional appearance and demeanor (over the phone and/or video conferencing) and be capable of understanding the legal issues involved in each matter with each case being handled. The paralegal must accept responsibility for meeting all deadlines, executing all assignments in a timely and complete manner, and must be able to set follow-up tasks in firm’s computer system for all work as needed.

This position will include working on family law cases, probate cases, along with minor odds and ends cases. There will be drafting of probate and guardianship documents, preparing estate accountings, trust modifications, estate planning documents, etc.

The paralegal might investigate the facts of a case, interview clients and witnesses, perform legal research, and draft pleadings, deposition notices, subpoenas, motions, and briefs. They might handle discovery and organize and manage files, documents, and exhibits. They'll file documents with federal and state courts and assist at hearings, arbitration, meditation,administrative proceedings, closings, and trials.

Paralegal Duties Include:

- Conserves attorneys time by reading, researching, reviewing, verifying, and routing correspondence, reports and legal documents.

- Creating Merges for routine documents commonly used by the practice

- Review documents created by legal assistant

- Create Complaints, Motions, Judgments, Contracts, Discovery Requests;

- Support Associate/Attorney during Trial or Depositions

- Represents attorney by communicating and obtaining information; following-up on delegated assignments; knowing when to act and when to refer matters to attorney.

- Generates revenues by documenting and inputting attorney billable time and reimbursable expenses;

- Maintains client confidence by keeping client/attorney information confidential.

- Reviews and Monitors office procedures and SKU's to reflect time to complete tasks, phases, and cases

- Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.

- Enhances department and organization reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.

- Has knowledge of Law Offices Team 100 to refer cases to other attorney's and professionals, when not within Menu of Services for our Firm

Experience Requirements:

- Family/Probate experience is a plus

- Legal experience background is a MUST

- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)

- Adobe Acrobat

- E-Filing portal experience

- Zoom meeting/video platform experience

- Lexis Nexus and/or other legal research

- Document drafting of motions, responses, petitions, complaints, discovery, etc.

Employee Requirements:

- MUST speak/write with proper English

- Spanish speaker is a plus (but not a requirement)

- Great organizer/planner

- MUST work well with others (especially clients, co-workers, judicial assistants, opposing counsel, etc.)

- Dependable

- Outstanding communication and proof-reading skills

- Highly organized multitasker who works well in a fast-paced office

- Excellent time management skills and the ability to work independently as well as with a team

- Demonstrates good judgement, tact and flexibility with many competing priorities

- Willingness to learn and grow with the firm as we evolve

- Employee located in or near Orlando, FL/Central FL area (is a plus, but not a requirement)

Benefits:

- Work completely from home!

- Typical work hours: 8am to 5pm (8 hours a day/40 hours a week) (can be slightly flexible on schedule as needed for doctor appointments)
