The Prince George's County Government Department of Health is seeking a qualified Administrative Aide I/II, grade A13/A15, within its Care Management Program/Family Health Services 
 
 About the Position:  
This is dually allocated entry level secretarial/administrative type work designed to relieve an important official of administrative detail. Good judgment and discretion are essential to the security of confidential information and data. Under close supervision, incumbents perform routine to moderately difficult office responsibilities.What You'll Do: 
  • Schedules and maintains appointments scheduled using electronic medical record system. 
  • Types a variety of memoranda, letters, and reports from rough draft or general verbal instructions; statistical charts and forms requiring original formatting and presentation. 
  • Proofreads and edits materials to eliminate errors and ensure correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation. 
  • Establishes and maintains filing systems to ensure that documents are readily retrievable; maintains an adequate supply of office materials and supplies. 
  • Searches files and a variety of other sources as necessary compile information for meetings, specific projects or research activities, including certain statistical reports. 
  • Screens telephone calls and incoming mail; answers questions relating to office or department operations; determines which requires the direct attention of the supervisor and which should be referred to other staff members.
What You'll Need: 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate with coursework in typing, office practices or other related clerical subjects; plus/and
  • One (1) year of advanced diverse and/or technical clerical experience which must have involved working with the public for at least six (6) months. 
  •  Applicants must be proficient in typing and in shorthand where required.
Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience will also be accepted. 
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with entering patient demographic information and scheduling appointments into electronic medical record system. 
  • EPIC experience is a plus.
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus. 
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Position is based onsite and in-person only at 
3003 Hospital Drive, Cheverly, Maryland 20785. 
Upon selection, the candidate must: 
  • Meet all training and performance standards and demonstrate proficiency as required by the agency. 
  • Wear and use agency protective apparel and equipment in the performance of their assigned duties. 
  • Participate as an "Essential" employee in the department's programs and other emergency or special activities as assigned. 
  • Applicants who meet minimum qualifications must pass an administered Administrative Aide exam. Applicants who have previously taken the exam on or after 2/1/2023, and passed, will not be required to re-test; instead, previously test scores will be used to receive the passing disposition
 
 
DURATION OF ELIGIBILITY: Candidates will be selected from a temporary register of eligible candidates, which will become effective approximately four (4) weeks after the closing date. Once a selection has been made, the register will expire.
