Premise is Hiring a Construction Manager -Electrical Near Minneapolis, MN

 

SUMMARY: The Construction Manager (CM) - Electrical is responsible for the scheduling, supervision, training and direction of Premise Foremen and laborers and outside Subcontractors on Premise, Inc. projects. CM's provide the technical expertise to create a clear scope of work (SOW), detailed material takeoff and to ensure the correct skills and tooling are available onsite. The CM ensures Foremen and Subcontractors meet the established project goals on their projects. CM success is measured and based on delivering productive, efficient, safe and quality-built projects.

We are looking for a CM for our work in Illinois. 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Prepares the Premise labor and subcontractor schedules, orders materials, arranges for the tooling and other project resources to achieve project objectives using the construction documents and project scope of work and as directed by the PM.
  • Ensures the correct site materials, tools, equipment, and manpower are ordered, scheduled and delivered per the project plan.
  • Communicates project plan details, schedule, and budget to the Foremen and Subcontractors to ensure projects complete on time, on budget, and following quality and safety standards. 
  • Manages Premise Foreman and Subcontractors on assigned projects and communicates with Project Managers to ensure the project objectives are achieved. Reviews and approves the daily reports, time sheets, and other project deliverables for assigned Premise crews and subcontractors to ensure they are completed accurately and turned in on time. 
  • Acts as the primary point of contact and resource for Premise Foreman and Subcontractors while they are on site, including assisting the Premise Foreman and Subcontractors in the problem solving of project issues and concerns. 
  • Ensure all assigned Premise Foreman and Subcontractors are accounted for each day.
  • Identifies and reports observations that affect the project schedule, budget, quality, safety and completion to Project Managers, especially SOW changes (potential change orders).
  • Reviews daily logs and production reports to ensure safety, quality, budgetary, and delivery goals and standards are met.
  • Understand and communicate project specific safety precautions and quality requirements to ensure standards are met per project Collaborates with safety and quality departments.
  • Develops contingency plan for site delays, include personnel absence, adverse weather and material shortages or delays. Works directly on projects (hands on work) only on an exception basis and when directed.
  • Leads, develops and manages assigned staff and performs supervisory duties in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws including: interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees, coaching and mentoring, addressing complaints and resolving problems. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • In addition to the above, other qualifications for this role are:
  • 3 – 5 years previous related experience as a Foreman or Construction Manager in the Telecommunications industry
  • Proven excellent organizational, problem solving, analytical and attention to detail skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, crews, job sites and customers
  • Proven ability to focus on daily construction processes as well as look ahead to anticipate and plan for upcoming work
  • Proven ability to read and interpret construction drawings, schematics, SOW and Radio Frequency Data Sheets
  • Able of leading job site crew in the Foreman’s absence
  • Possess basic financial understanding of profit, budget, margin, invoicing, and revenue recognition
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to communicate effectively, clearly and succinctly through spoken and written forms with peers, management, and customers. Able to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.
  • Ability to learn and use Premise provided software
  • Working knowledge and understanding of telecom work, construction work, safety processes and OSHA requirement
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain certifications/licenses in Competent Climber & Rescue, OSHA 10/30, First Aid/CPR, RF Awareness, Blood Borne Pathogens, DOT Health Card (Company provides training to assist in obtaining/renewing required certifications)
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and ability to maintain a clean driving record
  • Preferred:
  1. Commercial Driver’s License 
  2. Proficient with Microsoft Office products

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit, walk, lift, squat, push, pull, climb stairs, ladders and communications towers up to 600 feet, hear, see, reach, grasp and use hands and fingers to operate a computer key board, telephone, power tools, motorized vehicles and equipment. The employee must have the ability to occasionally lift more than 50 lbs.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 

While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee will work both inside in a normal indoor office environment and outside at remote job sites. The employee may be exposed to extreme weather conditions, including heat and cold and wet or humid. The employee may work in high places, and/or work around moving mechanical parts, vehicles and other equipment. The employee may also work in areas where the noise volume is loud and constant. The employee must have the ability to travel to remote job sites up to 60% as needed which may include occasional overnight stays.
