POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary role of the position of Freight Broker Coordinator at Monterey Logistics is to assist the Freight Brokers in the development of carriers to negotiate rates and move freight for our clients. This role is fast paced, with a great deal of multi-tasking and communication with drivers/team members and clients to achieve company goals and set continual benchmarks, transportation, price negotiation and sales.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with customers and carriers
- Assist Freight Broker to find authorized and reliable transportation carriers for clients
- Help coordinate the shipping needs of clients
- Learn to negotiate rates for service between the shipper and the carrier
- Assist in qualifying carriers, growing revenue, obtaining rate agreements, and approving spot requests
- Communicate with customers to help provide solutions to their problems
- Track shipments, coordinate pickup and delivery schedule, and resolve discrepancies
- Other duties as assigned

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
- Ability to build rapport with clients
- Excellent verbal communication skills, both oral and written with attention to detail
- Self-Starter and motivated to attain business for Monterey Logistics
- Experience using Microsoft Suites and TMS preferred
- Able to work independently and in a team environment
- Knowledge of national geographic areas
- Accurately and quickly read maps
- Make decisions under pressure and time constraints
EDUCATION & WORK EXPERIENCE:
REQUIRED:
- High school diploma or equivalent
DESIRED:
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in Trucking or Logistics is preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Works at the corporate Logistics office; general office environment.
