Potomac Haven Inc. is Hiring a Remote Project Director

Description

Potomac Haven is looking for a productive and experienced Project Director to oversee and manage information development and dissemination services for a federal agency working at the intersection of aging and age-related illness. 

The Project Director oversees the day-to-day operations of a team of 20-25 talented personnel in the successful development and provision of communications products and related services, including: website and database solutions, management, and maintenance; content and publications; graphic design; public inquiry response; communications research; outreach; meeting and conference support; and periodical fulfillment. 

As the team lead for this engagement, the Project Director serves as the linchpin for all project workstreams. The Project Director coordinates with team leads across the major workstreams (e.g., website and database management; content and product development and graphic design services; warehouse, inventory, and distribution) to ensure the agency’s ability to produce and share compelling and accessible content, informative research and resources as well as expand outreach and interaction with the public. In addition, the director manages external vendors for periodical distribution, warehousing, and call center operations.

While this position is remote, strong preference will be given to candidates in the Washington, DC-Metro area with direct experience within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Requirements

 Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise communications-focused work across multiple workstreams and within project scope. 
  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of workstreams and report on results and insights.
  • Manage resourcing and budget effectively to maintain overall project cost controls.
  • Coordinate with external vendors as needed on specific work products.
  • Research and identify new market opportunities and customer segments
  • Keep up to date with the latest marketing trends and best practices

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in health communications, mass communications, media, digital communications, journalism, or related field.
  • 5-10 years of progressive and proven experience managing large government contracts, including clearinghouse, communications, web and print media, and web content development.
  • Ability to supervise a team, collaborate with staff to get a job done, and cultivate team spirit and synergy.
  • Must be able to demonstrate experience managing teams of 20-25 personnel.
  • Must be a strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Exhibit strong executive function - organizational skills, ability to prioritize.
  • Ability to work under pressure and consistently meet deadlines, manage change, and mitigate project risks. 
  • Experience working within the federal sector, preference given to candidates with experience in the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and leadership skills.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a public trust clearance.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% travel per year.
