Streetsense is currently hiring a seasoned Project Director to join our growing Place Consulting team. Think you’ve got what it takes? Read on!

This position will focus primarily on our Public Non-Profit sector clients in the US, but may also support our Private sector client engagements. This position may be hybrid or remote for the right candidate and will require the ability for overnight travel with some frequency.Comprehensive data-driven planning and strategy is a philosophy we live by, and we are looking for a new team member to lead and execute place consulting efforts and research strategies in support of our client engagements. This work will support a variety of clients and their real estate and economic development planning efforts, particularly in mixed-use urban environments. Our newest hire must embrace collaboration, have persuasive communication skills, be an initiative-taker, and thrive in a collaborative environment. The right candidate will be enthusiastic about improving places and communities, with a track-record that reveals a deep intellectual curiosity that infuses their work. This person will be able to work both independently and as a member of a diverse team and in diverse communities. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Deliver client-ready, data-driven recommendations as they relate to place-based challenges in real estate, economic development, and downtown revitalization, frequently with an emphasis on mixed-use environments. 

  • Design and conduct comprehensive qualitative and quantitative research to gather and analyze facts and data that effect diverse urban places, including urban planning and zoning policies, public sector incentives and financing, placemaking interventions, real estate market trends, micro- and macro-economic trends, consumer patterns, etc.
  • Perform comprehensive analysis in the form of technical reports, data analysis (utilizing excel), maps, and turning that analysis into compelling information, charts and creative infographic representations to address current problems and provide guidance to clients. 
  • Prepare data, analysis, and recommendations through highly graphic reports, charts, maps, and other multi-media information products using such information technology as Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Excel, Word), Adobe Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign), and other graphic database, presentation, and planning software. 

· Manage and oversee multi-team planning processes. 

  • Play the lead project director role and main client contact (either directly or by supervising other teams or junior team members) with the support of a principal-in-charge.
  • Coordinate and guide the inputs of both internal teams and sub consultants and synthesize findings in final presentations, reports and client deliverables.
  • Oversee project teams (both internally and externally) as they conduct research, expert interviews, data gathering and analysis.
  • Organize and conduct consultant meetings and site visits, including stakeholder interviews, focus groups and panels with a variety of client types.

· Support the thought leadership efforts of the team.

  • Contribute original research to our content marketing efforts, including email newsletters, social media, and Streetsense blog.

· On an as-needed basis, provide general project and operations support for the PNP team

  • Project Director will support the Place Consulting team at Streetsense. This position will focus primarily on our Public Non-Profit sector clients in the US, but may also support our Private sector client engagements. 
  • This position may be hybrid or remote for the right candidate and will require the ability for overnight travel with some frequency.
  • Develop and conduct public engagement strategies to solicit public stakeholder participation, including public meetings, facilitated discussions, social media, website, and other technology-based approaches.

Requirements

  •  Undergraduate degree required, advanced degree in any of the following fields, including urban planning, economics, public policy, real estate, or other closely related field preferred. 
  • 6-8 years of experience leading strategic planning efforts in real estate, urban planning, economic development, or similar fields with 3 of it being in a strategy role in a demanding analytical environment (e.g., management consulting, internal strategy department). A relevant advanced degree may substitute for 1 year of work experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as strong skills in quantitative and qualitative data analysis.
  • Comfort and experience collaborating with diverse clients and audiences. 
  • Ability to travel with frequency, including multi-day overnight travel for client site visits
  • Experience in communicating/translating complex ideas as visual concepts, including a keen eye towards high-quality graphic representation and storytelling using data. 
  • Experience facilitating stakeholder and community engagements and translate community needs into human insights.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PPT – including capturing and recording advanced data in spreadsheet format; using shortcuts, formula functions, sorting, and filtering to calculate and record data sets efficiently, the ability to create pivot tables, charts, graphs and use imagery creatively to highlight data and provide meaningful insights.
  • Passionate about improving places and communities, with a deep intellectual curiosity and demonstrated interested as evidenced by participation and/or membership in relevant professional associations. 
  • Ability to take independent initiative and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and tasks at once.
  • Demonstrable leadership experience and guiding teams of diverse disciplines.
