PLS Financial Services is Hiring a Senior Financial Reporting Accountant Near Chicago, IL

Position Overview: 

The Senior Financial Reporting Accountant will be responsible for supporting PLS’ internal and external financial reporting, regulatory reporting, company Accounting policies & procedures, tax reporting, budgets, ad-hoc requests, and financial analysis including monthly and quarterly Management’s Discussion and Analysis. This position will assist with preparing documents and analysis and footnotes for the external audit. At PLS we utilize Microsoft Dynamics GP (Great Plains) for Accounting, and the add-on of the Management Reporter tool for reporting. Experience with these tools is highly preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Job Description:

• Prepare monthly financial statements for Senior Management team• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual regulatory reports• Assist in the Management’s Discussion and Analysis for Senior Management team• Assist in managing and maintaining reporting structures and financial formats• Maintain a reporting calendar to inform parties of necessary deadline adherence for the following processes: financial close, regulatory reports and loan covenant reporting• Prepare PBC’s and footnotes as needed and assigned for audit reports • Organize work papers for audits• Assist in preparation of tax PBC items• Create, implement, and maintain comprehensive accounting policy documents to improve clarity and consistency• Assist with monthly forecasting and annual budgets• Support month end and year end closing• Review workpapers as needed• Prepare journal entries as needed• Work on ad-hoc requests

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, CPA and/or MBA a plus
  • 4 –6 years’ experience in financial reporting or public accounting
  • A good knowledge of US GAAP and internal controls
  • Experience with SEC reporting a plus
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics GP (aka Great Plains) and Management Reporter is a plus
  • Strong PC skills required including Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Team player
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and attention to detail abilities
  • Experience with multi-location retail and/or financial services industry is a strong plus
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage well through ambiguity and complexity and meet deadlines
  • Ability to execute and follow-through to completion and documentation of policies and procedures

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 15 lbs.
