Human Resources Business Partner / Human Capital Business Partner / Talent Partner
Reports to: SVP, Human Capital
Department: Human Resources

This is an opportunity for the right candidate to take their Human Resources skills to the next level and also learn about the franchise business & fitness industry. Our company is a fast paced and growing private equity sponsored franchisee of the Planet Fitness gym concept, currently owning over 120 locations throughout Connecticut, New York, New Mexico, Arizona, Georgia, Tennessee, and Canada…and growing.

Purpose:
Provide proactive human capital support to the field while partnering with multiple levels of operational leadership (VPs, Regional Managers, GMs), across the US and Canada. Responsible for executing initiatives associated with the full employee lifecycle in the areas of talent acquisition, employee relations, employment law compliance, performance management, policy implementation, and training. Identify people opportunities, strategies, and solutions to challenges within the business. Communicate various policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and practices to employees and managers.

Responsibilities:
  • Coach, counsel, and guide operational leaders on employee related issues. Focus on understanding their business and team, identifying areas of strength and opportunity, and defining creative solutions to challenges. Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to the field including coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions.
  • Partner and assist regions in understanding the evolution in HR related practices and requirements (i.e. min wage, hourly vs. salary requirements, FMLA requirements, etc.) in each specific community we serve.
  • Travel to assigned clubs and partner with the leadership team on assessing the talent, culture and environment of each location. Provide detailed summaries of visits to Operational and HR leadership along with recommended next steps and future strategies.
  • Partner strategically with leaders to analyze key trends and metrics and the impact to business operations. Proactively develop ideas and solutions to ensure a Team first strategy and to ensure alignment in the execution of company initiatives and goals and to improve retention of our team members at all levels in the field.
  • Help make Ignite Fitness a true Career Destination, with exciting pathways, various professional and personal growth plans, and opportunities across multiple states, cities, provinces, and countries
  • Identify training needs for business units and individual coaching and development needs of team members at various levels.
  • Execute top-tier employee relations support. Investigate employee relations concerns, including complaints of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and other work-related issues; recommend an appropriate resolution of complaints and monitor results.
  • Partner with the HR Generalist and managers on FMLA, ADA, and Workers Compensation claim requests.
  • Partner with RM’s and GM’s in the talent acquisition strategy and selection process. Provide guidance and input on current team members and succession planning.
  • Help to create and introduce employee engagement programs that support the IGNITE culture.
  • Assist with the bi-annual performance management process.
  • Aid in identifying organizational training and development needs. Assist in facilitating training sessions and programs.
  • Actively contribute to the development of a talent and HR philosophy for the company, including what we value, what we measure and a consistent process for how we assess, deploy, monitor and retain talent. Introduce innovative and business appropriate HR strategies.
  • Assist in the design and manage the implementation of programs and initiatives that further IGNITE’s D&I strategy and contribute to creating a more diverse and inclusive workplace.
  • Support and exemplify IGNITE Fitness’ core values (T.E.A.M.) in all decisions and initiatives (Team #1; Excellence, Accountability, Member Centric)
  • Other HR projects as needed and assigned that support the business objectives and the organization.

Qualifications
:
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive HR experience required.
  • Experience in a multi-site organization highly preferred.
  • Certification in human resources related area is a plus (PHR or SHRM-CP).
  • Knowledge of local and federal laws (FLSA, EEOC, ADA, FMLA, etc.).
  • Ability to make sound judgements and decisions, and further a culture of collaboration and trust with employees and leaders.
  • Tech-savvy and comfortable with various types of HR Software (Applicant Tracking, HRIS, Performance Management, LMS, etc.). Paycom experience preferred.
  • Organizational skills and the ability to prioritize multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work autonomously, as well as within a dynamic team environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and coaching skills, and A “can do” solutions oriented approach.
  • Must be able to maintain high level of confidentiality and discretion.

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a
coach and mentor for other employees at all levels across various departments.

Travel: Travel of 75% to various club locations throughout the US and Canada. Overnight trips may be necessary when traveling outside of the local area.
