SUMMARY:

Responsible for cleaning buildings, removing debris, and keeping areas neat and clean. Vacuums, sweeps, mops and buffs floors, shampoos carpets, resupplies bathroom dispensers, empties trash receptacles, and replaces lining of trash cans.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY includes the following. Other duties may be assigned as needed

Clean buildings by emptying trash, sweeping, and cleaning all surfaces (floors, countertops, sinks, etc.)

• Clean and service restrooms with mops and disinfectants
• Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors
• Dust furniture and scrub surfaces clean
• Clean carpets as needed
• Use cleaning solutions to remove stains and clean surfaces
• Clean, strip and wax floors
• Apply wax to coat floors and buff
• Carry out heavy cleansing tasks and special projects
• Stock and maintain supply rooms
• Train and supervise participant work crews
• Follow weekly and daily schedule for cleaning all buildings

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school degree preferred. Proven working experience as a janitor. Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies. Ability to handle cleaning equipment and machinery.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, write, and interpret information and regulations related to facility management. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of employees, participants and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to collect mathematical data and to understand information related to data obtained.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:

Valid Florida driver’s license in good standing.

Ability to understand capabilities and needs of persons with disabilities.

Ability to establish and maintain mature, team oriented approach to participant services.

Ability to maintain high level, quality work.
