Summary: The ASC Surgery Schedulers are the primary contact with Medical Assistants within the organization for procedure scheduling. The Surgery Scheduler will be responsible for administrative duties within the facility and will maintain the surgery schedule utilizing effective communication, exceptional organizational skills, and attention to detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Supports the philosophy, goals, and objectives of Pima Heart ASC
• Adheres to privacy policies and procedures in performing job duties and responsibilities.
• Communicates effectively with patients, physicians, and co-workers.
• Maintains and promotes professional competence through continuing education and other learning experiences.
• Performs specified functions to meet the requirements approved for the Pima Heart ASC.
• Receive bookings, orders and other forms from primary medical assistants.
• Maintain SIS surgery schedule and Outlook surgery schedule while effectively communicating with vendors as needed.
• Manage authorizations, benefits and eligibility and effectively communicate issues with coworkers as needed to ensure workflow optimization.
• Communicate copay and deductible information with patients as needed.
• Communicate with RN’s making preop calls on any issues with booking.
• Call patients to schedule surgery dependent upon the physician’s availability as needed.
• Cancel and re-schedule patients as needed.
• Conduct Pima Heart ASC and department business in an ethical and lawful manner
• Maintain patient confidentiality
• Other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Visual and auditory acuity adequate for frequent use of computers and occasional use of other business office equipment.
• Ability to sit for long periods and to perform desk and office activities
• Ability to work with computers and basic knowledge of medical terminology.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Six months experience in a healthcare setting

Preferred Qualifications:

• 1 – 2 years front office experience in a healthcare setting
• NextGen practice management experience
• Spanish fluency
