WIC ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT AND BREASTFEEDING PEER COUNSELOR

JOB SUMMARY
Makes income eligibility determination for applicants for the WIC program. Determines continuing eligibility for issuance of food benefits. Provides client education regarding eWIC usage and the certification process. Makes client referrals for a variety of services, internally and externally. Prepares, maintains and updates EHR records for WIC Program participants. Coordinate clinic flow and obtains anthropometric measurements per WIC guidelines. Provides in-clinic breastfeeding support in the form of issuing breast pumps, in-person and virtual breastfeeding classes, in-person and virtual consultations and phone support to both prenatal and postpartum women, participate in local, regional and state committees & trainings as required by policy.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Current/valid License: N/A
Experience: Must have a minimum of 6 weeks consecutive personal breastfeeding experience; English/Spanish bilingual skills required.
PATIENT POPULATION SERVED
Ethnically and racially diverse population of pregnant, breastfeeding, postpartum women, infants and young children and all family members involved.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS
Requires frequent sitting for long periods, operation of standard office equipment and computers. May require lifting of up to 25 pounds. Requires hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity. Requires use of office and clinical equipment, such as laptop & desktop computers, telephones, fax machines, copiers, infant/adult scales, stadiometers & Hgb machines. Requires normal vision range. Work is performed in an office, clinical and patient home environment. Contact with staff, patients and external vendors.
